Jarred Brooks explained why he's "two completely different people" in training and his fights.
Over the last three years, no strawweight MMA fighter has been as successful as Brooks. The reigning interim world champion holds a 5-1 promotional record since his debut in November 2021, and most of his accomplishments can be attributed to his phenomenal work ethic.
ONE Championship's Brooks recently did an interview with BODYSLAM.NET Pro Wrestling to discuss his fighting career. 'The Monkey God' had this to say about the difference between his intensity in training and fights:
"Me in training and me in a fight? It's two completely different people, man. I'm trying to get better and I'm trying to get that guy better. And if I see that he's new, I'm gonna put the storm on him. I'm gonna make him feel like sh*t the whole time. I always train to make sure or so I can become the very best version of myself.”
Jarred Brooks' mindset on intense training has made him arguably the most dangerous strawweight MMA fighter on the planet.
Over the next year, the American superstar looks to solidify that status by regaining the undisputed ONE strawweight MMA world title following a controversial result.

What's next for Jarred Brooks in ONE Championship?
In March, Jarred Brooks lost his ONE strawweight MMA world title after being disqualified due to an unintentional illegal spike against Joshua Pacio.
Seven months later, 'The Monkey God' became the interim champion with a first-round submission (rear-naked choke) against Gustavo Balart.
Brooks was matched up against Balart due to Pacio's knee injury in training. Brooks and Pacio were poised for a highly anticipated trilogy bout, as the former defeated the strawweight MMA king by unanimous decision in their first meeting. Pacio then tied the series with the previously mentioned disqualification.
Pacio is expected to fight again in 2025. Yet, Brooks isn't overly interested in being sidelined for an extended period, so he could seek another fight before facing 'The Passion' again. The problem is that 'The Monkey God' holds wins over most of the top-five fighters ranked in the strawweight division.
