Sean O'Malley should sit pretty and wait for me to beat up Aljamain, says Henry Cejudo

Henry Cejudo believes it would be ideal for Sean O'Malley to sit on the sidelines and wait to fight the winner of a potential showdown between 'The Messenger' and Aljamain Sterling.

In a recently uploaded video, the former double-champ agreed with 'Suga's plan to wait for the victor of Sterling vs Cejudo. The 35-year-old added that it would not be wise for O'Malley to take up a fight with Marlon Vera in the meantime.

"I think what you should do Sean, I think you should sit pretty... wait for me to beat up Aljamain and then me and you could have a little showdown. I like that idea... Because I don't know if I really have faith in Sean O'Malley beating 'Chito' Vera, you know? Could he beat him? Yeah, 'Chito's very, very beatable. You just have to have the IQ and the tactics to be able to beat him. But does Sean have that?" said Henry Cejudo.

Cejudo's statement was in response to O'Malley's recent interview for ESPN MMA. During his conversation with Marc Raimondi, 'Suga' stated that if given the choice, he would pick Cejudo over Sterling as his next opponent.

A fight with Henry Cejudo does not seem very appealing to Aljamain Sterling

In his last outing, Aljamain Sterling defeated T.J. Dillashaw to retain his bantamweight belt at UFC 280. In a post-fight press conference, UFC president Dana White mentioned Henry Cejudo's name as the next potential opponent for 'Funk Master'.

Since then, talk of a possible showdown between the two have been doing the rounds. Apparently, Sterling does not seem too excited about the idea of fighting 'The Messenger'.

'Funk Master' iterated the same during his recent appearance on Ariel Helwani's show 'The MMA Hour'.

"I’m just not excited about that matchup [with Henry Cejudo]. Because he hasn’t competed. For me, if the fans cared — like really cared — the overall consensus was this is the matchup to make, Cejudo you are the guy, I’m calling you out, that’s the money fight because people want to see that fight. I just don’t feel like that’s it," said Aljamain Sterling.
