What's the story?

Colby Covington has been calling out UFC fighters left, right, and center and in his recent rant, the former Interim Welterweight Champion has called out another top star from his division in the form of Nick Diaz.

In case you didn't know...

Nick Diaz last fought in the UFC back in 2015 when he faced former Middleweight Champion Anderson Silva in a back-and-forth fight which he initially lost. Shortly afterward, Diaz failed his post-fight drug test for marijuana metabolites and was indefinitely suspended from Octagon competition by USADA.

As of December 2018, Diaz is cleared to make his return to the UFC but the older Diaz brother isn't too keen on returning to action.

The heart of the matter

While recently speaking on BJ Penn Radio, Welterweight upstart Colby Covington blasted Stockton fighter Nick Diaz for not stepping up to fight. Diaz, who hasn't fought since 2015, was first labeled as a "washed up" fighter by Covington and then was criticized by 'Chaos' for allegedly beating up women. (H/T: Bloody Elbow)

“He’s trying to keep his name in the headlines, get some media, get a couple of extra Instagram followers. He ain’t here to fight man, he’s done, he’s washed up. He can’t even fight anymore. When’s the last time he got a win? Like last generation? Last decade? No one gives a f—k about him anymore. He’s out partying in Vegas, doing lines of coke, beating up chicks because he ain’t beating up no guys. That’s all he can do is beat up chicks."

What's next?

Colby Covington has been calling out almost every single fighter on the UFC roster and not just only fighters on the Welterweight Division.

In another recent rant, Covington put Ben Askren on notice and Lightweight fighter Kevin Lee on notice as well. 'Chaos', however, is vouching for a title fight against current Welterweight Champion, Tyron Woodley.

As far as Nick Diaz is concerned though, it is pretty unlikely that the older Diaz brother will ever return to the UFC in the near future at least.
