UFC News: Dana White slams Floyd Mayweather for criticising Conor McGregor's achievements

Conor McGregor has made UFC history, having won both the featherweight and lightweight titles at the same time, but that doesn’t seem to have impressed retired boxing legend Floyd ‘Money’ Mayweather.

Mayweather recently spoke to TMZ to express his displeasure for being compared to McGregor, to which the Irishman responded by saying, ‘say it to my face’. Now UFC President Dana White has chimed in, to back up his two weight world champion, trashing Mayweather for his style of fighting that ‘puts people to sleep’.

Here’s what White had to say about Money Mayweather (Courtesy of MMA Mania):

"Conor McGregor, if he touches you, you go to sleep . Floyd puts people to sleep too, with his fighting style, not with his hands. You know how Floyd knocks people out? When they're not looking. Watch the Victor Ortiz fight. Floyd can say what he wants about Conor, but even other fighters have to respect him. He's special. Floyd's never even come close to doing to other fighters what Conor does."

McGregor is coming off of a spectacular second round knockout win over Eddie Alvarez, in the main event of UFC 205 live from Madison Square Garden. Now with McGregor’s name continuing to get bigger and bigger as each day passes, the comparisons to Mayweather continue to grow, fueling the speculation of a possible boxing match between the two stars.

Both McGregor and Mayweather have expressed interest in a boxing bout between the two, but no deal has been able to come forth to satisfy both parties. If a boxing match does go down between the two money hungry combat sports stars, it will surely become the biggest fight in combat sports history.
