UFC President Dana White reveals 'not being close at all' to re-signing Brock Lesnar

Brock wasn’t close to signing with the UFC – Dana White

- Late last month, Brock Lesnar made sports news headlines when he resigned with the WWE after reportedly being pursued by his former employer, the UFC, at the same time. The auction for the PPV giant was widely speculated on and covered by various media outlets, with constant guessing as to which side Lesnar would end up on.

However, in a recent appearance on a radio channel, UFC President Dana White claimed that the UFC were never that close to signing ‘The Beast Incarnate’ in the first place. He said:

"Not very close at all. We'd known that Brock was probably going to take a pass and go back to wrestling, which was the right move. You know, Brock came in here, he did incredible things and he got a great deal from Vince (McMahon). He's 38 years old, man. It makes all the sense in the world."

This comes as contradictory to what Lesnar had claimed in his appearance on ESPN, where he claimed to be on the edge with regards to making the decision to sign with either of the organisations.

"It was a very hard decision to make, I talked to Dana, I talked to Lorenzo (Fertitta), Vince, my wife, my friends. I had many sleepless nights. And at the end of the day, I was born to be an entertainer and I have fun doing it." Brock told ESPN.

All said and done, Brock sure looks to have played his cards right and ended up signing with the WWE where a eleventh hour offer from Vince McMahon convinced him to sign on the dotted line.
