NASCAR 2024: Preview and odds table for the GEICO 500 at Talladega Superspeedway

The GEICO 500 marks the 10th race of the 2024 NASCAR Cup Series season. The green flag will drop at 3 p.m. ET on Sunday, April 21 at Talladega Superspeedway.

The 2.66-mile tri-oval-shaped longest track on the NASCAR schedule comprises 33 degrees of banking in the turns, 16.5 degrees of banking on the tri-oval and 3 degrees on the backstretch. Drivers must work together in the draft to succeed.

The venue began hosting NASCAR Cup races in 1969 and hosts the Cup Series, Truck Series, Xfinity Series and the ARCA Menards Series.

A total of 38 drivers will contest over 188 laps in this week’s Cup Series race. This will be the 55th annual event hosted by the Talladega Superspeedway in the NASCAR Cup Series.

Heading to Talladega Superspeedway, three drivers - William Byron, Ryan Blaney, and Brad Keselowski - are tied as favorites, as per the odds table, at 10-1, to win the GEICO 500 this week, according to NASCAR.com. Keselowski holds six victories at Talladega, while Blaney has won it three times.

Joey Logano, Denny Hamlin and Chase Elliott share the second-highest odds at 11-1 to win the 500-mile race. They are followed by the defending winner Kyle Busch at 15-1, Bubba Wallace at 15-1, Ross Chastain at 16-1, Christopher Bell at 16-1 and Ty Gibbs at 18-1 in the top-five odds.

The 2021 NASCAR Cup Series champion Kyle Larson has the seventh-highest odds at 20-1.
