The reason American actor Bruce Willis fell prey to the cognitive disorder Aphasia is unknown. While the family did share the sad news of him retiring as an actor due to the onset condition, they haven't revealed what was the cause for it and when it all began.
After reading the heartbreaking note from Willis' wife Emma Heming Willis which she shared on her Instagram handle, Bruce Willis' fans are concerned that the actor may have suffered a stroke that triggered the Aphasia condition.
For the unknown, Aphasia is a cognitive disorder that leaves the person unable to speak, write, or communicate in any way. The condition gradually worsens. According to the Mayo Clinic, there are three types of the condition, including Broca’s aphasia, global aphasia, and Wernicke’s aphasia. All three types snatch the person's ability to speak and/or understand language. The condition is caused by damage to the brain or even a stroke. As per medical experts, those who are diagnosed with aphasia suffer a stroke beforehand, although not every single person with the illness has had one.
Hence, when fans learned that the actor has Aphasia, they ended up getting concerned about whether he suffered a stroke which caused him the cognitive disorder. However, what happened is still unknown.

Emma Heming Willis, Bruce Willis' wife, shared the sad news of his retirement from Hollywood due to his suffering from Aphasia. On March 30, 2022, Emma shared a sweet photo of her husband and wrote, "To Bruce's amazing supporters, as a family, we wanted to share that our beloved Bruce has been experiencing some health issues and has recently been diagnosed with aphasia, which is impacting his cognitive abilities. As a result of this and with much consideration Bruce is stepping away from the career that has meant so much to him. This is a really challenging time for our family and we are so appreciative of your continued love, compassion, and support. We are moving through this as a strong family unit, and wanted to bring his fans in because we know how much he means to you, as you do to him. Does Bruce Willis have dementia too?
After sharing the news of Willis suffering through Aphasia in 2022, his family has now shared an update on his health and it's not very great. A statement shared by his family read, "Since we announced Bruce's diagnosis of aphasia in spring 2022, Bruce's condition has progressed and we now have a more specific diagnosis: frontotemporal dementia." "Unfortunately, challenges with communication are just one symptom of the disease Bruce faces," the family statement further read. They also added, "While this is painful, it is a relief to finally have a clear diagnosis."
"Today there are no treatments for the disease, a reality that we hope can change in the years ahead," they concluded.
