A rumor claiming that Disney World Resort in Orlando, Florida has released tickets costing $10 million has recently gone viral on the internet. Reportedly, the rumor seemed to have originated from an Instagram page called Mouse Trap News. The page currently has 106k followers on Instagram.
Mouse Trap News has seemingly come up with several fake news in the past. For instance, it once asserted that Elon Musk was buying Disney World or that the amusement park had banned all children from entering the premises.
Meanwhile, the Walt Disney World Resort covers over 25,000 acres and is one of the most iconic entertainment destinations in the country. It contains numerous rides and facilities designed to attract customers including two water parks, four theme parks, a competitive sports complex, conference centers, and a multipurpose complex for dining, shopping, and other activities.
However, there is no evidence to infer that a $10 million ticket was introduced by the amusement park authorities. No reputable news outlet or Disney World's official handle has posted about the ticket.
According to the amusement park's official website, the most expensive ticket available for purchase is the Disney Incredi-Pass, which is valued at $1,549 before taxes.
Exploring the source of the $10 million Disney World ticket rumor
The rumor of a $10 million entry ticket originated from an Instagram post from Mouse Trap News on November 26, 2024. They also posted an article about it on their website. The website designates itself as a parody site and the makers clearly warn readers to take everything on the site with a pinch of salt. Its about section reads as follows:
"Mouse Trap News is the world's best satire and parody site [....] We write fake stories about Disney Parks stuff. From Disney Park announcements to Disney Hotel and resort news to made-up Disney partnerships, you can be assured that anything you read here is not true, real, or accurate, but it is fun."
"So technically our slogan The Moused Trusted Name in Disney News isn't true, but we thought it was creative and funny, so we are running with it."
Mouse Trap News also added ludicrous benefits associated with the hypothetical $10 million entry ticket. The website explained that the ticket was called the 'Unlimited Disney Pass' and was essentially a lifetime pass for the owner and three other guests to visit any Disney World Park on any day for the rest of their lives.
"On top of that, it allows you to stay in any standard or pool-view hotel room on Disney World property for free, as long as there is availability. This essentially means you could live at a Disney resort and go to the parks for free every day," it continued.
Mouse Trap News also included access to the famous Club 33 in the $10 million package deal. Club 33 is an exclusive members-only club that offers VIP dining and other luxurious experiences to guests. It is located at multiple locations across the world including California's Disneyland in Anaheim, Shanghai Disneyland Park, Tokyo Disneyland, and the one in Florida.
It further claimed that the ticket pays for itself after 8,333 days or 22 years, considering the average amount spent by a family at the amusement park is around $1,200 per visit. However, it's to be noted that these claims are not true as the website states that Mouse Trap News was created on a whim and they write stories about Disney that they wish were true.
