Rick Grimes may not have graced our screens in a long time, but The Walking Dead fans still hold a soft spot for him and wish to see him again. Andrew Lincoln played the character for about a decade, leading the show for nine seasons, so it is understandable why fans love him so much.

Rick was last seen in season 9 episode 5, titled What Comes After. He tried to sacrifice his life for his community, but fortunately, he didn’t die. He ended up severely injured in an explosion. Jadis rescued him and flew him away in a helicopter.

Where is Rick in the current timeline of The Walking Dead universe?

It is tough to say where Rick is at the moment since all of the shows in the universe are not in sync temporally. He has not appeared anywhere after his disappearance.

However, the spin-off show, The Walking Dead: World Beyond, does subtly address Rick’s current location. In the show's second season, fans see Jadis and learn that she has joined the CRM, which was possible due to a trade she made. The “trade” referred to here seems to be none other than Rick Grimes.

When will we see Rick again?

Originally, The Walking Dead creators had planned to continue Rick’s story in a trilogy of films. However, it was announced at San Diego Comic-Con (SDCC) 2022 that Andrew Lincoln will appear again as Rick Grimes in a six-part spin-off series opposite Danai Gurira playing Michonne. This means that not only will fans get to see Rick again, but they will also witness the reunion of lovers Rick and Michonne.
