The Sopranos has six seasons in total.
Two decades have passed since the airing of The Sopranos, and it is still considered one of the most remarkable TV series of all time. Featuring the late great James Gandolfini, many credit the spectacular program with the beginning of the culture of television sets.
What is The Sopranos about?
The American crime drama, The Sopranos, was created by David Chase. The series is about Tony Sopranos, an Italian-American mafia who lives in New Jersey. Tony is challenged to deal with his personal and professional life, which are discussed during his therapy sessions with psychiatrist Jennifer Melfi. Tony ends up in conflict with his Uncle Jr., his wife Carmela, other gangsters within the Soprano family, and the Lupertazzi family of New York, jeopardizing his life.
A masterclass of rich and engaging storytelling, the program creates one of the most iconic anti-heroes in TV history, and there is still today one of the most widely spoken endings of a television series. You'll have to look at the whole thing to find out why!
Will there be season 7 of The Sopranos?
Considered one of the best performances of all time, The Sopranos will not return to TV with season 7; nevertheless, the creator of the series, David Chase, confirmed that they plan to do a prequel series of The Sopranos. Although, as we all know, The Sopranos released a prequel movie in 2021, now the author and creator of the series have decided to do a prequel TV series, as they had a great concept that came out while making the prequel movie "The Many Saints of Newark."
The show follows the history of Tony Soprano's childhood and the history behind the Sopranos family. During the 1967 riots in New York, Dickie Moltisanti and his young nephew, Tony Soprano, became embroiled in a violent gang war. The show may be a remake of the movie or show life after the film's end. The release date for the prequel series has yet to be confirmed, but we expect it to be available around mid-2023 or perhaps later, depending on the coronavirus pandemic situation.
Where was The Sopranos filmed?
Most outdoor scenes in New Jersey have been filmed on location. The majority of indoor footage was taken at Silvercup Studios in New York, including most of the Soprano residence's internal plans and the Bada Bing's back room, strip club, and Dr. Melfi's office. In the pilot episode, the pig shop was shot in Centana's Meat Market, a real butcher shop in Elizabeth, New Jersey. Producers rented a building with a storefront in Kearny, N.J. - after the series was taken over by HBO - which was used as a location for outdoor and indoor scenes for the rest of the production; renamed Satriale's Pork Store. After the show was completed, the building was destroyed.
