Kim Seok-jin is 30 years old as of 2023. He was born on 4 December 1992 in Anyang-si, South Korea.
Kim Seok-jin who is professionally known as Jin is one of the main members of the South Korean supergroup BTS. Jin is the eldest member of the group and now is making news for returning home to attend J-Hope's teary farewell to the 18 months of mandatory military service. For the unversed, J-Hope who also is known as Hobi is the second BTS member to enlist for mandatory military service. J-Hope recently shared the last message with his fans and revealed that he would now be serving the military from April 18th alongside Jin.
Jin who currently is serving in the military was with the members to welcome Hobi into the military. The photo of all the BTS members meeting each other to bid J-Hope goodbye at the enlistment site is now going viral on social media.
What is Jin's role in BTS?
Jin is one of the main members of the BTS group. His position in the group is vocalist and visual. Early in his life, the BTS member wanted to be a journalist but after watching actor Kim Nam-gil in Queen Seondeok, he chose to be an actor. While he was studying acting, Jin was scouted by Big Hit Entertainment as he was walking down the street. The agency scouted him for his looks.
Jin, who has no background in music, auditioned for Big Hit as an actor before becoming an idol trainee. He was one of the first four vocalists in BTS during their debut single album 2 Cool 4 Skool. Since then Jin has been no less than an anchor for BTS.
When did Jin enlist for military service?
Jin enlisted for mandatory military service in December 2022 and he was the first BTS member to enter military service. BigHit Music which is the home to BTS shared the news about Jin's decision to join the military a while before he was about to enlist.
The statement released by BigHit Music read, “To fulfill his mandatory military service duties, Jin will enlist as an active duty soldier. There will be no special events on the day of Jin's enlistment at the recruit training center." The statement further read, “The farewell ceremony in front of the recruit training center is a ceremony meant for enlisting soldiers and their families. To prevent any safety accidents caused by chaos on site, we sincerely ask that all fans refrain from visiting the site. Please be with Jin only in heart, as you send your warm and encouraging greetings.”
Currently, it's just been five months since Jin enlisted in the military. He needs to spend more than 13 months before he is released from his duties.
When will the BTS members reunite?
According to the label, all the BTS members are joining the military services according to their schedule. As mentioned the first one to join was Jin and recently J-Hope joined, the rest of the members too will soon enlist in the mandatory military services.
It is safe to assure the fans out there that by 2025, all the BTS members would reunite.
