On January 11, 2024, the South Korean media outlet OSEN reported that Lee Gwan-hee was supposed to appear in Single's Inferno 2, where the popular contestant Dex participated. Producers Kim Jae-won and Kim Jeong-hyun provided an exclusive interview to the outlet.
Single's Inferno is a reality dating show where participants are stranded on an island lacking basic necessities and singles must find their significant others to escape to paradise. In the second season, Dex was the most popular male contestant while Lee Gwan-hee ruled the third season capturing the attention of viewers.
Producer Kim Jae-won revealed that Lee Gwan-hee was supposed to appear in Single's Inferno 2, but due to a hectic schedule, he couldn't participate in the second season.
As soon as fans learned about this information, they were overwhelmed with joy stating that since Gwan-hee cried in season 3, Jin-young aka Dex would likely have a similar expression. One of the fans said:

In the final episode of Single's Inferno 3, Lee Gwan-hee caused mayhem by choosing to leave the Inferno with Choi Hye-seon. Referred to as a red flag of the season due to his dynamic choices, fans noted that he behaves like a green flag whenever he is with Choi Hye-seon.
Lee Gwan-hee was meant to enter Single's Inferno 2, producer Kim Jae-won said to the aforementioned media source. However, due to the basketball player's team training schedule overlapping with the filming schedule of the show, he was unable to join the contestants for the second season.
The producer further stated that they even met with the new coach and desperately sought the team to see if anything could be done to change the schedule but were met with disappointment. In the end, they gave up.
The producer further stated that if Lee Gwan-hee had appeared in the second season, it would have been really interesting to watch the duo together.
Considering both Dex and Gwan-hee's cheerful and confident personalities, fans expressed that they would love to watch the duo together, finding it interesting to see how they would handle the mug fight. Some even stated that the two would have given each other tough competition.
