Later the officials revealed via Twitter that they had caught the criminal who shot Lil Tjay and also revealed his name to be Mohammed Konate.
Mohammed was charged with attempted murder, armed robbery, and weapons offenses, and Lil Tjay's friends Jeffery Valdez and Antoine Boyd were also charged with second-degree unlawful possession of a weapon but were later released. Lil Tjay was not charged with any crime.
After the shooting incident took place, Tjay was flown to Hackensack University Medical Center where his emergency surgery took place.
