Drake loyalist DJ Akademiks recently commented on Thug's comments concerning Lamar during a recent livestream, the clip of which was posted on X by a joebuddenclips/fanpage on September 4, 2025. In the clip, Akademiks commented on Thug's criticism about Kendrick Lamar denying to feature in his 2023 album Business Is Business.

During his livestream, Akademiks said:

"Kendrick wants to be Drake without doing Drake s*it. Most of the things that Kendrick criticizes about Drake, Drake has to do to be Drake...If you want to be the guy who is like this No. 1 really super popular dude, you gotta do some of these things."

Akademiks' reaction stems from one of the audio leaks featuring Young Thug, where he expressed his discontent against Kendrick Lamar reportedly not featuring on his album. In the clip, Thug, whose real name is Jeffery Lamar Williams II, questioned if Lamar was "too big" to not do a feature for a "superstar."

Jeffery added that artists like Lil Baby, Lil Durk, and he reached out to Lamar for a feature, further asking who the Not Like Us rapper was willing to help. The conversation eventually led to Thug taking Lamar's rival Drake's name, stating:

In other news, in the audio clip dissing Kendrick Lamar for not featuring on his 2023 album, Young Thug claimed that the East Coast doesn't entertain Lamar. Additionally, the YSL rapper mocked Kendrick Lamar for his lack of social media activity, suggesting that he should delete his account rather than trying to prove he doesn't use the internet regularly.
