On September 30, entrepreneur Elon Musk shared a post about Logan Federico's alleged killer. According to media reports, Federico was killed on May 3 this year after a repeat offender, Alexander Dickey, allegedly broke into the home of her friend, where she was visiting, and shot her in the chest. On Monday, a Congressional hearing was held in North Carolina regarding the case, where the victim's father criticized lawmakers for lax policies that allowed his daughter’s alleged killer to remain free despite facing multiple charges. In the aftermath of this hearing, a user shared a post with pictures of Logan Federico and her alleged killer, writing,"He got out of jail 39 times before he murdered an innocent white girl... Black privilege is real."Elon Musk, who had earlier made multiple posts slamming judges for letting repeat offenders walk freely, shared the aforementioned post, adding,"This needs to stop."According to the New York Post, Alexander Dickey allegedly drove a stolen vehicle on May 3 and broke into a home in Columbia. He then allegedly shot Logan Federico. Authorities arrested him the following day and charged him with multiple offenses, including murder, credit card theft, and grand larceny. The report mentioned that Dickey had been charged multiple times since 2013 but received a sentence in eight cases so far. He also pleaded guilty to third-degree burglary in 2023. He received a five-year sentence with more than 410 days credited, and his probation was shortened “for compliance.”The victim's father, Stephen Federico, gave a moving address during the congressional hearing on September 29. He recalled the moments when his daughter pleaded for her life and blamed lax rules that had set Dickey free."She was 5-foot-3. She weighed 115 pounds … BANG!.. Dead. Gone. Why? Because Alexander Devonte Dickey — who was arrested 39 Goddamn times, 25 felonies — was on the street."Elon Musk has made many posts since Logan Federico's case surfaced.Elon Musk's previous posts in the aftermath of Logan Federico's murderElon Musk @elonmuskLINKHe has already been arrested 40 times! Those we failed to prosecute and sentence the offenders are responsible. On September 8, an X user alleged that the national media had ignored Federico's case because it "didn't fit the narrative" and also questioned the release of Dickey. Elon Musk shared this post, writing that empathy for murderers instead of a victim is a "pure evil.""How many violent offender arrests before imprisonment? Empathy for the murderer instead of the murdered is pure evil," Musk posted.A day later, while sharing another post about Federico’s case, Elon Musk stated that those who fail to prosecute repeat offenders are responsible for such crimes."He has already been arrested 40 times! Those we failed to prosecute and sentence the offenders are responsible," SpaceX founder said.Later in the day, Elon Musk reacted to a post sharing a statistics graph and claiming that most crimes were committed by "people with 3+ prior arrests." The billionaire shared his thoughts on this post and wrote,"Incarcerating a small number of repeat violent criminals would vastly improve public safety. This must be done now!"Elon Musk @elonmuskLINKIncarcerating a small number of repeat violent criminals would vastly improve public safety. This must be done now!On September 9, Vice President JD Vance tweeted that the "vast majority of violent crime" is committed by a "very small group of people" and suggested incarcerating them. Reacting to this post, Musk wrote,"Yes. What it comes down to is this: Do you have more sympathy for those highly likely to commit murder or more for those at risk of being murdered? If the former, you are a disgusting human being, and yet so many on the radical left choose this!"Elon Musk had previously made similar posts following the assassination of Iryna Zarutska, calling for changes in the law and criticizing DAs and judges “who enable” such crimes.
