Utah's governor, Spencer Cox, has claimed that Charlie Kirk's murder suspect, Tyler Robinson, is "not cooperating" with the authorities. The 22-year-old suspect was arrested in the final hours of September 12 after Kirk was shot dead during a university gathering.
On September 14, Utah Governor Spencer Cox told several reporters that Tyler Robinson was "not cooperating" with the legal authorities. Robinson has also not confessed to killing Charlie Kirk. The governor added that the authorities were still trying to figure out a motive for the suspect. However, he mentioned that people around Robinson were cooperating with the investigation, including his alleged partner and roommate.
Speaking to ABC News, Spencer Cox also referred to an alleged Discord conversation that took place after Charlie Kirk's murder, where Robinson allegedly joked about being the killer.
"All we can confirm is that those conversations definitely were happening, and they did not believe it was actually him. It was, it was all joking until, until he, you know, until he admitted that it actually was him. We're interviewing all kinds of people - everyone that knows him - and trying to learn more about what the motive actually was," he said.
Cox said that Tyler Robinson's alleged partner was "incredibly cooperative" about the investigation. The alleged killer is now held at the Utah County Jail without bail. He was arrested on suspicion of "the crimes of aggravated murder, felony discharge of a firearm, and obstruction of justice", reported BBC.
Charlie Kirk was shot dead with a single bullet to the neck while he was speaking at a conference at Utah Valley University on September 10. The open-air conference was arranged by Turning Point USA, an organization co-founded by Kirk himself.
Charlie Kirk's murder suspect, Tyler Robinson, is expected to make his court appearance on Tuesday

According to BBC, Charlie Kirk's murder suspect, Tyler Robinson, is expected to make his first formal court appearance on Tuesday, September 16. Utah County Attorney Jeff Gray also told the outlet that they would be filing formal charges against Robinson on the same day.
Investigators revealed that the 22-year-old Utah native was confronted by his father after the FBI released his images in relation to Charlie Kirk's murder. The father reportedly confronted Robinson and spoke to a pastor about the same. The pastor informed the US Marshals about his whereabouts, and his father convinced him to surrender. A Public Safety Assessment Report filed in the Utah court confirms that Tyler Robinson has no record of criminal activity.
On Friday (September 12), FBI officials claimed they were confident about Tyler Robinson being the correct person of interest. They also added that they are investigating to figure out his motive.
"We are confident we have the right individual in custody, but we are still working to establish the full picture of who he is and why he acted," a spokesperson said.
Moreover, Utah Governor Spencer Cox mentioned in his Sunday address that one of Tyler Robinson's family members told the authorities that the suspect had lashed out at Charlie Kirk at a recent family gathering. He also allegedly mentioned his event at Utah Valley University, where he was shot dead. Robinson reportedly turned "more political" in recent times, per his family members.
BBC also reported that investigators alleged that Tyler Robinson was closely involved in online meme culture, as they found certain anti-fascist messages in shell casings related to Charlie Kirk's murder. One of the unfired casings said, "Hey fascist! Catch!" while others had humorous online meme messages, such as "notices bulges OwO what's this?" and "If you read this, you are gay lmao."
Some casings also had lyrics of the popular anti-fascist Spanish song, Bella Ciao, and others had anti-authoritarian symbols. Tyler Robinson was reportedly also active on Discord, where he allegedly spoke about various details linked to the Charlie Kirk murder. Investigators claimed Robinson's roommate revealed such messages to them, where he allegedly referred to a "drop point" and other details about hiding a possible weapon.
Authorities are continuing their investigation of Tyler Robinson's background and other possible links to Kirk's murder. Meanwhile, a funeral and memorial service for Charlie Kirk is set to take place at the State Farm Stadium in Arizona. The conservative activist lived there with his wife, Erika, and their two children.
Multiple leaders, including President Donald Trump and Vice President JD Vance, are expected to attend the funeral on September 21.
