42-year-old Harry Keels who had been missing since November 2023, was recently found dead in a trash can. Police made the horrific discovery on January 3, 2024. While authorities reported that the victim had allegedly been shot to death, they are yet to confirm how long Keels has been dead.

The investigation is currently ongoing and the police are yet to make arrests in the case. Authorities have not identified any suspects who could be involved in the victim's disappearance or his suspicious death, which authorities have ruled as a homicide.

On January 3, at around 9:25 am local time, authorities responded to the 1400 block of Canal Street, Southwest, after an individual discovered human remains, as per Fox5. Upon their arrival, authorities found the remains of an adult man in a trash can. He was later identified as a 42-year-old missing man, Harry Keels.

The body was later taken to the Chief Medical Examiner's office, where an autopsy was conducted.

The victim was allegedly shot to death, and authorities are currently looking for the suspected shooter. Officials are treating the case as a homicide, and trying to unearth all available details regarding the incident.

As per WTOP, officers revealed that the remains were found about a block away from where cops reported that Keels was last seen on November 3, in the 1500 block of Second Street SW, as per the Washington Post.

As has been mentioned before, authorities are currently trying to look for the suspect(s) involved in the disappearance and death of the 42-year-old. Police have urged the public to reach out to them if they have any information regarding Harry Keels' disappearance and murder. Officials have also announced a $25,000 reward for those whose information leads to the arrest and conviction of the suspects.

This year itself, two homicides have been reported in the district. However, by this time last year, there were five. Police also shared additional data, according to which, 274 people were killed in the district in 2023, as per the Washington Post.
