Donald Trump and Elon Musk attended Charlie Kirk's memorial in Arizona on Sunday, September 21. This was reportedly their first public sighting together after their fallout earlier this year.Donald Trump and Elon Musk have had an up-and-down political relationship so far. The latter had previously criticized Trump and, in 2022, even urged him not to run in the elections. However, eventually, not only did Musk promote him in the presidential race, but he also spent around $270 million in the campaign. He was also made head of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), a newly launched initiative to cut down federal and government jobs. However, in May 2025, Elon Musk opposed the Trump-led flagship tax and spending bill proposed by the Republicans after exiting the White House. In June, he criticized the bill on X (formerly Twitter), leading to a big fallout between him and Donald Trump. He also accused the latter of being on the alleged Epstein Files.Both Musk and Trump appeared together for the first time since then at Charlie Kirk's memorial on Sunday. The right-wing activist and author was fatally shot at Utah Valley University on September 10. Musk was chosen as the president's advisor to lead this department meant to reduce government jobs, citing waste. However, in March 2025, Trump placed limits on Musk's authority before the latter himself left the role in May.In June, Musk shared a post on X about a Republican bill, writing:“I’m sorry, but I just can’t stand it anymore. Elon is upset because we took the EV mandate, which was a lot of money for electric vehicles. They’re having a hard time, the electric vehicles, and they want us to pay billions of dollars in subsidy."Elon Musk then claimed that the Republicans would've lost the election if not for his support in another tweet. Trump then claimed that Musk "went crazy" after leaving his role as an advisor.The Tesla owner then claimed that Trump is named in the alleged Epstein files. The president, meanwhile, threatened that the government could cut contracts to Musk's companies.
