Downey Jr. shared with People magazine that the inspiration beyond Exton’s name came from Susan's great-uncle Joe. When Joe was in fourth grade, he felt like he was missing something, so he decided to change his name to J. Exton. This unique tale influenced the name they chose for their son.

Avri Roel Downey

Avri Roel Downey was born in Los Angeles on November 4, 2014 and she is nine years old. Avri holds the position of Robert's third child and the second child he shares with his wife, Susan. When Avri was born, Robert shared the happy news through a tweet. His words were, "Girl, Joy!! Avri Roel Downey, 7lbs, 20 in., 3:22 a.m. 11-4-14... Pretty like mama, and dimples like my uncle Jim!"
