Woody Harrelson is from Midland, Texas, in the United States.

American actor Woodrow Tracy Harrelson was born on July 23, 1961. In addition to being nominated for three Academy Awards and four Golden Globe Awards, he has won a Primetime Emmy Award, two Screen Actors Guild Awards, and received several honors.

After receiving five nominations for his performance as bartender "Woody Boyd" on the NBC comedy "Cheers" (1985–1993), Harrelson won the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series. He played the same character again in the well-liked spinoff "Frasier," for which he was nominated for a Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Guest Actor in a Comedy Series.

For his portrayal of "Steve Schmidt" in the HBO film "Game Change" (2012) and for his performance as "Marty Hart" in the HBO crime anthology series "True Detective" (2014), Harrelson received additional Primetime Emmy Award nominations.

Harrelson was nominated for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series and Outstanding Lead Actor in a Limited Series or Movie, respectively. In the HBO political miniseries "White House Plumbers" (2023), he plays "E. Howard Hunt".

Charles Voyde Harrelson, a convicted hitman, and secretary Diane gave birth to Woodrow Tracy Harrelson in Midland, Texas. Along with his two brothers, Jordan and Brett, who both became actors, he was brought up in a Presbyterian home.

When their father, Charles, killed federal judge John H. Wood Jr. in 1979, he was given a life sentence. According to Harrelson, he didn't see his father a lot when he was a kid. On March 15, 2007, Charles passed away at the Administrative Maximum Facility of the United States Penitentiary.

Although his mother's income was very low, Harrelson's family was dependent on her. He was a student at Briarwood. He moved to Lebanon, Ohio, his mother's hometown, where he went to school until 1979. He worked at Kings Island Amusement Park throughout the summer.

Harrelson studied English and theater at Hanover College in Indiana. He became acquainted with future Vice President Mike Pence while being a member of the Sigma Chi fraternity there, and he graduated in 1983.

So, yeah, it's just not fair to my family," he stated, adding, "I'm just a little knackered from the whole process." Quite simply, he was "just ready to go home."
