Yes, "Friends" stars are still friends in real life, as Jennifer Aniston is the godmother of Coco, Courteney’s daughter; Matt LeBlanc traveled to support Perry for his written play; and many more instances can be caught on their social media handles.

Friends is a popular 1990s American sitcom about Rachel, Ross, Monica, Joey, Chandler, and Phoebe. Their struggles with life and everything around them—from moving to a new place, landing a job, or losing one, to starting a new relationship and suffering heartbreaking breakups—are evident in everything they do. Friends is all about their socioeconomic perspectives combined with hilarious humor.

Were they actually friends despite how they were portrayed? They did have a fairly good relationship after filming a series for ten years, in response to the frequently asked question from fans. But then another query arises: Did they manage to hold onto their friendship even after the series came to an end?

After Friends ended, they were all far too preoccupied with building successful careers around their breakthrough roles on the show, which made them all-around celebrities. David Schwimmer acknowledged that it had been years since the principal cast members of Friends had gotten together in the same location regarding the HBO Max Friends Reunion in 2021.

It appears that the main characters of Friends have only been able to unite twice in a single frame since the series ended. The cast members of Friends are frequently seen in pairs or trios, but not all six at once. However, it does not mean that they have any feuds; rather, they are all busy with their lives and get together when they have time.

Jennifer Aniston, Courtney Cox, and Lisa Kudrow’s Friendship

The most well-known post-Friends besties are Aniston and Cox, but Kudrow actually remains close with the two of them as well. It was discovered in March 2018 that the three women frequently communicate via group text. It turns out, though, that it might be a bit too contemporary a medium for Cox. "Lisa, Jennifer, and I all have a text chain, but to me, it’s too much pressure," she admitted to Us Weekly. "I’m not in the group text chain. I really don’t like it!"

Even Kudrow did admit, "It’s a lot." Cox emphasized, "And then you have something funny to say, and you say it, but then you send the text, and they don’t get it." While technology does make keeping up with old friends convenient, we totally get the pressure of trying to keep up. Aniston, Cox, and Kudrow appeared together in a cameo for the remote version of the 2020 Emmy Awards, pulling out the schtick that they’ve been "roommates since 1994." The trio also make frequent appearances on each other’s social media accounts.

In August 2015, Jennifer Aniston invited only Lisa Kudrow and Courtney Cox to her wedding to Justin Theroux. There were only 70 people in attendance at the intimate wedding and Courtney served as the maid of honor. Jennifer also serves as Courtney's child's godmother. The bond extends beyond lofty positions. Jennifer moved in with Courtney for the foreseeable future after splitting up with Brad Pitt.

Matt LeBlanc, Matthew Perry and David Schwimmer’s bond

It turns out that Joey and Chandler are best friends in real life as well as on the television show. In 2016, LeBlanc said of Perry, "I saw him yesterday. I love that guy! I can not see him for five years and then get in a room together and still have that shorthand with each other. It’s amazing, really; after ten years in a building with no windows and the doors locked, we got to know each other pretty well."

Since Friends ended, the pair have supported one another's endeavors, with LeBlanc even making it to a play written by Perry in 2016 called The End of Longing. Although David has been quite distant in comparison to others, the bond is unquestionably intact, which was evident from David’s excitement before the reunion as showcased in The Graham Norton Show.

Despite not receiving invitations to Aniston and Justin Theroux's 2015 wedding, LeBlanc and Perry didn't seem to take it personally. "I think they’re a great couple. I think she’s happy. And that’s all I care about is that Jen’s happy," LeBlanc said at the time, before anyone could have predicted their impending divorce. "If she wanted me there, I would have been there," LeBlanc also pointed out.

He had nothing but wonderful things to say about Aniston and the entire Friends cast. "Jen’s like my little sister," he told People. "Courteney and Lisa are like my big sisters, but Jen’s like my little sister. Matthew’s like my little brother, and David’s like my big brother; that’s how it all broke down, and it’s literally just chronological.”

Marta Kauffman and David Crane

Marta Fran Kauffman, a writer and producer, along with her lifelong friend David Crane, created the hit sitcom Friends. Besides the duo, the show was also executive produced by Kevin S. Bright.

Marta Kauffman once mentioned that, “When David and I lived in New York, we had a group of six friends. We were all each other’s best friends. We hung out all the time; we were like a family,” Kauffman told The Cut. “So later, when we were thinking of shows that could have an ensemble cast, it occurred to us to look back at that point in our lives. That was the birth of the idea for Friends: that time in your life when your friends are your family.”

Other shows created

Marta Kauffman and David Crane also produced “Jesse and Veronica’s Closet” and wrote the HBO series “Dream On." However, the Netflix series “Grace and Frankie” was Kauffman’s sole venture.

David Crane created “Half & Half,” co-produced “Mad About You,” and co-created "Episodes." Ironically, Lisa Kudrow portrayed Ursula the waitress in “Mad About You” and "Episodes”, starring Matt LeBlanc.

Conclusion

To talk about it, it is almost poetic that a couple of friends actually created "Friends," which became one of the most watched television series ever. Matthew Perry once mentioned that they were told by the producers to maintain the friendship they have formed while working on the show, as it is important. However, Cox doesn’t remember it as a rule. Anyway, major leads have somewhat tried to maintain the relationship they had back in the day, but as we know, things don’t always work out. Aniston, Cox, Kudrow, Perry, and Matt can still be seen hanging out, either in duos or trios, having lunch dates or having simple old-fashioned fun, but the one missing out is somehow David Schwimmer.

There have been rumors before about an issue between David and other cast members, and if this is true, then it is a very well guarded secret because they all talk so nicely to each other that one can’t even suspect if there is really a problem or just random Hollywood gossip. The explanation given for David's missing all the fun is that he is usually busy with some other projects, coincidently everytime.

As David said during an interview with People regarding the reunion, “We've only been together once, I believe nine years ago, in the same room until yesterday. So in the 17 years since we've wrapped, we've seen each other like you know, one or two people, or I know the girls get together often, but the whole cast hasn't been together in quite some time.”

In a nutshell, there is no denying the friendship of the Friends cast members and producers, which they have maintained for 28 years since the show commenced in 1994. Recently in 2021, we saw more than an hour of Friends Reunion on HBO Max, and it seems like nothing has changed.
