AEW's women's division undoubtedly needs a lot of improvement. While Champion Riho did get over as a babyface underdog, her feuds have mostly underwhelmed lately. She has had rivalries with Nyla Rose and Britt Baker over the title, in addition to a rushed angle with Emi Sakura.

Riho has been booked for two more title defenses, a four-way against Nyla Rose, Britt Baker, and Hikaru Shida on Jan 1 episode of Dynamite and a potential match with Kris Statlander the week after. The reigning champion hasn't really been a continuous presence on AEW TV since Dynamite started airing on TNT, but that doesn't mean that Riho has been idle.

She is wrestling continuously in regional Asian promotions and in fact, holds titles in companies based out of Singapore and Thailand. In addition to this, she is also the High Speed Champion in the Stardom promotion. High Speed Championship is the top women's title in Stardom and the title has been held by WWE's Io Shirai and AEW's Shanna in the past.

Riho made a surprise Stardom appearance in July 2019 and captured the High Speed title in her first match with the company. She beat the defending champion Death-Yama San and Starlight Kid in a three-way match to win the Championship.

Stardom is one of the most popular women's pro-wrestling promotions in Japan and is owned by entertainment company Bushiroad, which also owns New Japan Pro Wrestling - making Stardom and NJPW sister promotions.
