CM Punk retired in 2014 period since then, the fans have asked if he will ever return to the rain again or not. The Straight Edge Superstar denied every rumour of his return to the ring again, but now, it seems like he has changed his mind.

Since leaving WWE, Punk has gone through many things. Firstly, Dr Chris Amann filed a lawsuit against him after which his friend Colt Cabana tried to sue him. Over the years, Punk has also tried his hands in Mixed Martial Arts where he failed.

This week, the Cult Of Personality made his shocking return to the ring at an independent wrestling show. At first, the fans were confused whether it's actually Punk or not but since Silas Young’s confirmation on the same, many new questions have emerged.

Here are the five biggest questions running through our mind after CM Punk's shocking return.

#5 What led him to changing his mind?

CM Punk wrestling with The Undertaker

CM Punk always denied every rumour of him returning to the wrestling ring again. Punk said he is done with wrestling and has no intentions to return again - not only once but several times.

The biggest question, right now, is what caused him to change his mind? The Straight Edge Superstar carries a ton of star power and would have easily gotten million dollars worth deal from any major promotion if he wanted.

However, he didn't return for any of them but for an independent wrestling show, which is quite surprising. What could have led to his return to wrestling ring again?

Did he miss wrestling so much that it forced him to return or it was actually the fans that made him do so? I will pass this question on you.

#4 Why he didn't return to the WWE ring?

The promo that made him famous
The promo that made him famous

Suppose that CM Punk changed his mind. He is ready to return to the wrestling ring again. But the next biggest question is why he chose an independent wrestling show over WWE (or any other promotion) to return?

I agree things aren't good between the two parties but it doesn't mean that it could be. Vince McMahon has buried the hatchet with many Superstars before and he could do so again with CM Punk as well. Was it because of Triple H? Both Superstars had issues working together which could be why Punk decided not to return to WWE ring.

His return has indeed opened many new doors for him and it would be interesting to see which one the Cult Of Personality would choose.

#3 What about his MMA career?

CM Punk's MMA career is almost over
CM Punk's MMA career is almost over

Since retiring from professional wrestling, CM Punk also tried his hands in the Mixed Martial Arts world. The Straight Edge Superstar made his MMA debut in 2016 in a fight against Mickey Gall where he badly lost.

He then took a break from MMA but returned in 2018, at UFC 225, where he lost against Mike Jackson via unanimous decision. Later, Dana White revealed that Punk may never fight in UFC again. It also raises many questions regarding his MMA future. Will he ever fight in the octagon again? Probably not for UFC but maybe for another promotion?

One wonders if Punk has removed his focus from his MMA career or not. In late 2018, Punk also made his debut for Cage Fury Fighting Championships as a commentator which also indicated that he has given up on his MMA career as a fighter.

#2 What's the reason behind him wrestling under a mask?

CM PUNK!
CM PUNK!

The crowd present at MKE Wrestling Show had no idea if Punk would be coming there. It is why they weren’t shocked when Punk hit GTS to Daryck St. Holmes. At first, the fans wondered if it’s Punk who actually showed up in The Last Knight show because of the mask. Even though Silas Young has confirmed it was indeed CM Punk, fans are still in doubts.

They are questioning why Punk wrestled under a mask. If he had plans to return then why he felt the need to hide it with a mask. And I am assuming it wasn’t done to hide his identity as almost everybody who watched MKE’s footage know that it was Punk who used GTS.

So what could be the reason for Punk to show up under a mask? This transcript of an interview may answer this question.

"No, I don't think so. But it is one of those ‘never say never’ things. I like to cover all my bases, just so some internet dweeb is going to be like, 'you said you'd never wrestle again!' But WWE? No. Absolutely not. But you never know, I could pop up here and there. Let me explain that to you even better: it's not going to even be televised, it's going to be me in a ninja f***** outfit wrestling one of my buddies and nobody's ever going to know. It's going to be very 'Monty Python,' so to speak." (HT: Wrestlingnews.co for the quotes)

Maybe Punk will return to the ring again without giving any hints to the fans.

#1 Will CM Punk return as a full-time wrestler?

Is it even possible?
Is it even possible?

Since knowing about CM Punk's shocking return to the ring, fans are desperate to know if the Cult Of Personality would return full-time or not. His last televised match happened in 2014 and since then, he never wrestled again (until this year).

We have seen many returns like these before where a wrestler returns after many years and then works full-time. I agree he may not want to return to WWE again but there are many other options available.

New Japan Pro Wrestling (NJPW), Ring Of Honor (ROH), Impact Wrestling and All Elite Wrestling (AEW) would love to have CM Punk in their company. AEW is new to this business and since they have already signed many top talents, it wouldn’t be shocking if Punk, too, shakes hands with them. However, one doubt if that would ever happen or not.

The Straight Edge Superstar still hasn’t spoken about his return yet and it would be interesting to see how he will react to fans’ questions now.
