Every year WrestleMania weekend offers a great time of entertainment and excitement to pro-wrestling fans and this year is no different. The city of New Orleans will witness the world's top independent stars appear during the WrestleMania week as the city will play host to countless indie shows during this period as a number of independent promotions will showcase their product and talent. Here is a list of five matches to lay your eyes on which have garnered heavy buzz among the wrestling community.

This will be interesting.

Former UFC fighter turned pro-wrestler Matt Riddle will host his own show named Bloodsport and will be taking on independent wrestling legend and former WWE superstar Low Ki. This event will take place at the Pontchartrain Center on 5 April and has the added stipulation that victory can only come via knockout or submission.

This match is very promising and these two tremendous athletes are expected to put on a classic match.

#2 - Joey Janela vs The Great Sasuke

This match has created a lot of buzz
This match has created a lot of buzz.

Joey Janela's Spring Break was a great success last year and this year he will host his second show. Joey Janela, one of the hottest indie stars, is booked to face The Great Sasuke, the Japanese legend who is best known for his outstanding offense and style of wrestling. Sasuke has wrestled for almost every major promotion in Japan. These two stars are expected to tear the house down and the match is expected to be hard-hitting and fast-paced. As both wrestlers are outstanding competitors, this match will be one that fans will remember for a long time.

#3 - Thunder Bastard Match

First time for everything
There's a first time for everything.

PROGRESS will host the first 'Thunder Bastard' match outside the UK in New Orleans at the Chapter 66 event. PROGRESS has done a great job by adding some celebrated names from the United States indie scene to take part in its New Orleans show. Multi-competitor matches are always entertaining, especially if the match has celebrated names to offer like Jeff Cobb, Austin Theory, and Joey Janela. This match boasts a mix of various wrestling styles and talented performers, so this match has high fan expectations and will hopefully deliver the goods.

#4 - Eddie Edwards vs Jeremiah Crane

A highly anticipated match between two top indy stars.

Eddie Edwards will be taking on Sami Callihan’s alter-ego Jeremiah Crane in a grudge match that pits Impact against Lucha Underground. After the baseball bat incident, these two have been going back and forth across social media. The partnership between Impact Wrestling and Lucha Underground has brought a whole new aspect of craziness to New Orleans in the form of Jeremiah Crane. This match has a huge potential to be the show stealer and fans are excited about the bout.

#5 - Cody vs Kenny Omega

Who's the true leader of the Bullet Club?

Cody and Kenny Omega are the two of the biggest names as far as the independent scene is concerned, and this high profile match is perhaps the most anticipated match as far as non-WWE storylines are concerned. This is the match with the most fan expectations and I truly believe it will be splendid given the talent and build-up regarding this match.
