The Authors of Pain, Akam and Rezar, made their main roster debuts on the April 9 episode of Raw last year. They squashed Heath Slater and Rhyno, and they even got the Braun Strowman treatment wherein they were built up by taking out enhancement talents.

However, the WWE failed miserably in the using the Authors of Pain. They were rarely used during the summer months, even removing Paul Ellering as their manager. And what’s worse, they replaced him with Drake Maverick, that was critically panned by fans.
With Maverick’s talent on the mic, AOP’s characters on television improved and it culminated on the November 5 episode of Raw when they became tag team champions. But as usual, the WWE dropped the ball on them, losing the titles after a month to Chad Gable and Bobby Roode.
In 2019, the Authors of Pain should be used to the best of their abilities, which is to dominate and destroy. They should not be losing their titles easily and their characters must be improved. Some fans still can’t tell Akam and Rezar apart, and others see them as generic big men.
