Scarlett Bordeaux has taken Impact by storm!
Scarlett Bordeaux has taken Impact by storm!

In wrestling, and in life, we all love a bit of mystery, a bit of enigma, a bit of a tease - and that's something we definitely had in abundance as Impact Wrestling built up the debut of The Smoke Show - Scarlett Bordeaux!

The pay-off to such enigma can sometimes be disappointing, but that was definitely not the case with Bordeaux taking the wrestling world by storm, causing controversy and raising eyebrows at every occasion.

Impact Wrestling has been on a roll recently with their exciting in-ring action, stars like Pentagon Jr and Fenix lighting up the ring, and Johnny Impact holding down the fort at the top end of the table - but it can't be underestimated just how great the building of talent has been too, and none more so than in the case of Ms Bordeaux.

The mysterious vignettes hooked us all in, with this teaser clip being released a week before her debut...

And needless to say, she hasn't disappointed in the ring - being...let's say innovative in her offence and, well, causing offence in some cases, too.

#7 She was a Rosebud

Scarlett, left, with Adam Rose
Scarlett, left, with Adam Rose

Let's get the easy one out the way first because, well, who wasn't, right?

What do Braun Strowman, Alexa Bliss, Becky Lynch, Carmella, Kalisto, James Ellsworth, Taeler Hendrix, Jimmy Jacobs, Bull James, Sami Callihan, Nikki Cross and Simon Gotch all have in common?

They're wrestlers, of course, but they were also all part of Adam Rose's party entourage!

A goldmine of talent which Scarlett was a part of "about 15 times" before March 2015. While Adam Rose is no longer a WWE Superstar, the legacy of the Rosebud only continues to provide talent after talent in WWE and beyond.

Out of the 15 times, Bordeaux was a Rosebud, she had one appearance at WWE Payback, being Rose's colourful companion at Live events on the other occasions!

#6 Her Impact debut wasn't actually her Impact debut

Love, left, and Bordeaux, right
Love, left, and Bordeaux, right

While Impact Wrestling built up the character of The Smoke Show and touted Scarlett Bordeaux as a new signing, she'd actually competed for TNA four years previous - during the One Night Only Knockouts Knockdown PPV back in 2014.

On that occasion, Bordeaux may have scored less than a perfect 10, losing her only match to Angelina Love The six-time Knockout Champion may have won the encounter, but Bordeaux more than held her own!

Now, there's no smoke and mirrors here, no different name. Scarlett Bordeaux was indeed named Scarlett Bordeaux for this match but never wrestled for Impact again after the match which took place four years ago.

Needless to say, the match was pretty impressive, as you can see below - but it's funny how things work out. Four years later, a very different Scarlett is back

#5 She's a successful model

Bordeaux is an accomplished model
Bordeaux is an accomplished model

Okay, so this might not come as a huge surprise given how she looks and the character she portrays, but The Smoke Show had a very accomplished modelling career outside of the squared circle.

We're keeping this one PG, but one thing's for sure, Bordeaux isn't shy in front of the camera - whether it be rolling video in the ring or sizzling snaps in sunnier settings like the one shown above.

Scarlett is a woman of many talents, also being critically acclaimed as an incredible singer, but her audio talents are slightly harder to find online than her modelling work.

As I said, we're keeping things PG here, but one Google search of Bordeaux and her vast modelling portfolio is there for all to see - and it's safe to say we can see why she's called The Perfect 10!

#4 She was trained by two former WWE Superstars

Al Snow trained Scarlett

Okay, so it won't come as much of a surprise that Al Snow trained Scarlett - granted, as he's a very accomplished trainer and has had a hand in training a plethora of wrestling talents.

Snow is obviously well known to the WWE Universe for a career that saw him win the European Championship, the Hardcore Championship and the Tag Team Championship alongside Mankind. Snow is also very well known for his work in wrestling after retiring, working behind the scenes and as a trainer for Impact Wrestling particularly.

The other talent, though, who trained Bordeaux may be a bit more surprising, and it's another former WWE man named Nick Dinsmore - also known as Eugene!

Eugene also held a WWE title when he won the Tag Team belts with NXT General Manager William Regal! But while he may not have captured much gold, he definitely captured the hearts of the WWE Universe.

#3 She's had a lengthy Ring Of Honor career

Bordeaux recently re-debuted in ROH

Six years, to be precise. Bordeaux may be new to Impact, but she's no stranger to a wrestling ring, having made her debut for Ring of Honor in 2012.

Bordeaux accompanied Matt Taven alongside Truth Martini for his match against Adam Cole for the ROH World Television Championship.

Known as the Hoopla Hotties, she and Valerie Malone would accompany Taven to all his matches from then on. Bordeaux then made her in-ring debut in April 2012 when she competed in a Four Corners "Women of Honor" match against Cherry Bomb, MsChif, and the eventual winner Athena - and has since returned to the promotion six years later.

Alongside Bordeaux, Taven found success as ROH Television Champion, eventually losing the title to Tommaso Ciampa, and leading to the split from Bordeaux. Scarlett would go on to share ring announcer duties with Bobby Cruise at television tapings and live events - announcing duties at ROH's 12th Anniversary Show.

#2 Her list of "favourite wrestlers"makes for interesting reading

Lita may be an obvious choice, but the others are not
Lita may be an obvious choice, but the others are not

Bordeaux's list of favourite wrestlers just shows how much of a student of wrestling and an educated fan of the business she is - and while all of the names listed make sense when you see Bordeaux's work, it's a versatile list, to say the least.

Scarlett cites Lita as one of her favourite wrestlers, which may seem like an obvious choice due to the WWE Hall of Famer's contribution to wrestling in general and just how much of a pioneer of women's wrestling she was.

Many women and men would probably name Lita as a staple of WWE during the Attitude Era and she'd most likely be one of the first two names mentioned if you asked almost anyone to name a famous female wrestler - but the other names on Bordeaux's list are pretty unique.

The Smoke Show cites influences from Bull Nakano, Hamada, and the very well respected Gail Kim - as well as the hard-hitting Awesome Kong and WWE's Maryse. The comparisons with the latter are very clear!

#1 She made her WWE in-ring debut in 2016

Bordeaux appeared on WWE Raw

You may still be wondering why Bordeaux's face is so familiar after reading through this list.

Well, the most recent and obvious explanation is that she was on Raw just under two years ago.

Bordeaux wrestled Nia Jax in a losing effort on Raw while wearing a Sasha Banks t-shirt. While Jax made short work of Scarlett, winning the match in little over a minute, The Smoke Show did get to cut a promo outside the ring pre-match.

Bordeaux merely went under the name Scarlett on Raw, and the Sasha Banks shirt was prevalent as Jax her after the match to find better role models than Sasha Banks.

The match was a pretty solid effort from both ladies and had some significance in the build-up to Banks and Jax's feud for The Boss' WWE Women's Championship. Bordeaux's performance, while fleeting, definitely helped progress the rivalry.
