All Elite Wrestling had a fantastic week, following up a great Full Gear event with an explosive episode of AEW Dynamite, and the results of these two shows have no doubt affected the standings. These standings for the first time were released a week ago, and while nothing too extreme has changed due to the result of Moxley/Omega not counting towards official wins, there will no doubt be some shuffling in the standings.
While some may not enjoy the ranking system, it is a fun way to get everyone in the roster involved, giving them something to work towards, and hopefully, AEW can do this the right way. The official rankings are released on Friday and given some of the results that have occurred over the past few days, it's hard to predict them perfectly, but here is what we think the AEW Men's Top 5 will look like.
(In consideration for the Top 5: Scorpio Sky, Cody, MJF, Shawn Spears).
#5 Darby Allin
Since AEW began, many people worried that the company would rely too heavily on The Elite, but one breakout star of the company has been independent standout Darby Allin. Ever since his first promo, the AEW fans have been enamored with Allin, and given his high-risk style and relentless attitude, it's easy to see why he's the fastest rising star in the world.
He boasts a record of 4-3-1, and after his victory on Dynamite this week, he took to the mic to accept Jon Moxley's challenge, something that may push Darby Allin even further up these rankings. Even with a loss next week, the attitude of Allin to accept this challenge shows he will one day be a force to be reckoned with, and despite his loss to Chris Jericho, he isn't that far from another AEW World Championship match.
#4 Kenny Omega
When the inevitable signing of Kenny Omega was announced by AEW, many expected The Best Bout Machine to go on a huge run and dominate the company, but that hasn't exactly happened yet. The former IWGP Champion struggled to begin with, and while he's seemingly found his footing, he hasn't been the same Omega that made him a star, and that's concerning going forward for Kenny and All Elite Wrestling.
Kenny's official record is 5-4 (just 2-2 in singles competition), but he's still a huge name for AEW and will play a huge role in the company going forward, meaning he will always be important in some way.
While 5-4 doesn't sound great, not many in the company right now sit above .500 in the win/loss department, and given that he officially had an 0-0 week while others did more, he will stay put in the #4 position for now.
#3 'Hangman' Adam Page
Since the start of All Elite Wrestling, many have pegged Adam Page as a future World Champion, and despite his 1-1 record this week (both contests with PAC), he's well on his way to Championship contention. Page has it all; charisma, a great look, fan support, athleticism, size and the confidence, and while his AEW run hasn't gone the way he would have liked, it's only a matter of time until he's at #1.
The latest loss on Dynamite takes Page back to 5-5 (4-3 in singles competition), and while that's not too impressive, there aren't many singles stars that can boast better records than the Hangman.
Given all that's been happening with The Elite since Dynamite began, it may be only a matter of time until Page strikes out on his own to take control of his career, but right now, if he sticks with it, he'll be in that #1 spot sometime in 2020.
#2 Jon Moxley
Despite the victory in the brutal Lights Out match with Kenny Omega at Full Gear not officially counting, it's hard to deny the momentum that Jon Moxley has built up for himself.
He followed this up with a victory over Michael Nakazawa on Dynamite this past week, and while his record only now stands at 2-1-1, that victory over Omega needs to somehow be taken into account.
Last week, Moxley came in at #5 on the rankings, and given the 0-0 week from Omega and the 1-1 week from Page, it makes sense for Moxley to rise this quickly, but a match with Darby Allin next week could throw this all into disarray.
Given his pedigree in big wrestling companies and the momentum and fan support he has created since Double or Nothing, it's hard to deny that Moxley is AEW World Championship material, and perhaps a rematch with the #1 on our list could decide LeChampion's next challenger.
#1 PAC
PAC may have taken his first singles loss at AEW Full Gear, but given that he reclaimed his win on Dynamite, he rightfully should take the #1 spot this week. PAC has been red hot since finally joining AEW back at All Out, and with 2 wins over Adam Page and one over Kenny Omega (taking his overall record to 4-2-1), no one deserves this spot more.
PAC was ranked at #2 in the initial standings, and despite the controversial finish to the AEW World Championship match at Full Gear, Cody still lost and is now out of contention for the title, so PAC is seemingly next in line.
It's hard to see who could challenge PAC for this spot given how much momentum he has gained over the past few weeks, and while it may change in 7 days' time, right now, PAC should be considered the best contender for Chris Jericho in all of AEW.
