What’s the story?

Ring of Honor World Champion Dalton Castle was recently interviewed by ROH.com and during his interview, Castle discussed about several wrestling related topics including the fans supporting him as the ROH World Champion and if he was bothered about the fact of not being initially seen as World Champion.

In case you didn’t know…

31-year-old Dalton Castle is one of the best, yet underrated wrestlers in the world today. Castle, made his wrestling debut back in 2009 when he started performing on the Independent scene for promotions such as Next Era Wrestling, Empire State Wrestling and more.

In 2013, Castle signed for top American Indy promotion Chikara and also made his debut for Ring of Honor. Castle is one of the hardest working superstars to ever step foot into ROH and during his four years in the company he has faced off against the likes of Bobby Fish, Roderick Strong, and Jushin Thunder Liger (Castle’s personal favourite match).

The heart of the matter

During his interview with ROH.com, Castle talked about a host of wrestling related topics and here are a few highlights:

On fans supporting him as ROH World Champion:

Castle stated that the feeling of being World Champion is nothing but amazing and the ROH fans have also loudly accepted him as their champion, which makes the entire experience beyond amazing.

On his ROH World Title win at Final Battle 2017:

“The Planet Peacock”, said that he cannot describe his feelings after his World Title win and there was a lot of crazy things going on in his head at the moment.

“The feelings I had at that exact moment would probably be described with a dance”- Dalton Castle stated.

On not being seen as World Champion material and if that bothered him:

Castle claimed that he never doubted his in-ring abilities and knew that he always belonged in a pro wrestling ring. Furthermore, the former ROH 6-man Tag Team Champion stated that if he continues to be fearless, then the only direction for him would be to move forward in his career.

What’s next?

Following his ROH World Title win from Cody Rhodes at this year’s Final Battle PPV, Castle will most likely have a rematch against “The American Nightmare” in early 2018. Dalton will look to have a long reign as the World Champion of ROH and will look to hold onto the title as long as possible.

Author’s Take

Dalton Castle is one of the most hardworking and solid in-ring performers in wrestling today. Personally, I cannot wait to see what 2018 holds for “The Planet Peacock” as the top face of Ring of Honor.
