What's the story?

Current WWE UK Champion Pete Dunne is all set to make his Progress Wrestling return on Sunday at the O2 Academy. He will defend his WWE UK Championship against Joseph Conners at their Chapter 59 event in Sheffield.

British Strong Style member Dunne recently addressed the Progress Wrestling audience. He claimed that he needed to reassess his Progress career, thus leading to speculation that 'The Bruiserweight' might be signing full time with WWE.

However, that doesn't seem to be the case as Dunne is all set to make his return to the UK based promotion to defend his WWE UK Championship.

In the past...

This is not the first instance that the WWE UK Title is being defended in another promotion. The championship was previously defended in Scotland's top promotion Insane Championship Wrestling and was also being defended in Progress Wrestling by the first ever UK Champion Tyler Bate.

The heart of the matter

Progress Wrestling's 59th Chapter Show will take place on Sunday in Sheffield at the O2 Academy. It has one of the most stacked cards that Progress Wrestling has ever lined up.

The card will feature current Progress Wrestling Champion Travis Banks defending his title against Eddie Denis. The Progress Tag Team Championship will also be up for grabs as brand new champions Grizzled Young Veterans look forward to making their first title defense against Pete Dunne's BSS stablemates Tyler Bate and Trent Seven.

The major event on the card will be Dunne defending his WWE UK Championship against Conners. The match between the two wrestlers was announced on Twitch and Progress Wrestling also confirmed the news on their official Twitter handle.

What's next?

It seems like Pete Dunne is not yet done with Progress Wrestling and will spend some more time at Jim Smallman's promotion. However, on the other hand, he also continues to work for the WWE and has been appearing on NXT TV on regular occasions.

Author's take

The match between Dunne and Conners will definitely be an amazing spectacle to watch. It is also great to witness WWE letting their UK Champion defend his championship in various promotions.
