What's the story?
During last night's NJPW: World Tag League show in Yamagata, New Japan stars Hangman Page and Davey Boy Smith Jr. paid a small tribute to the late, great Dynamite Kid, who passed away earlier this week.
In case you didn't know...
British Wrestling legend Dynamite Kid is quite arguably one of the all-time greatest high flying Professional Wrestler to ever grace the squared circle. Having made his Professional Wrestling debut in 1975, Kid had the opportunity to work with several notable wrestling promotions throughout his career, including Stampede Wrestling, WWE, and New Japan Pro Wrestling as well.
During his time with NJPW, Kid was known for his long-term classic feud against Tiger Mask and during his tenure with the WWE, the Lancashire born star won the WWF Tag Team Championships with the late, great Davey Boy Smith.
Kid, who was dealing with several health issues for the past several years, unfortunately, passed away on his 60th birthday.
The heart of the matter
There is certainly no doubt in the fact that Dynamite Kid has inspired several generations with his tremendous in-ring high flying skills. The likes of Will Ospreay and Tyler Bate, who are two of the brightest stars to emerge from the UK, took to their Twitter handle and paid homage to their idol right after his passing away on 5th December.
Another superstar who also had a very strong bonding with Dynamite Kid is non-other than Davey Boy Smith Jr., whose father as you would know, teamed up with Kid in WWE during the 80s.
Not only did Smith Jr. decided to pay tribute to his late great idol via social media but last night during the World Tag League, the former WWE star along with The Elite's Hangman Page had a very touching tribute for Dynamite Kid.
As you can see below, Page and Smith Jr. decided to recreate a classic spot from a match between Dynamite Kid and Tiger Mask.
What's next?
The Killer Elite Squad, which currently consists of Davey Boy Smith Jr. and another former WWE star Lance Archer, will be facing off against the duo of Evil and Sanada in the final block match for this year's World Tag League.
The Elite, which is being represented by Hangman Page and Yujiro Takahashi in this year's WTL, are mathematically eliminated from the tournament.
Nevertheless, a truly touching tribute from Hangman Page and Davey Boy Smith Jr. May Dynamite Kid Rest in Peace.
