5 reasons why we all love Jurgen Klopp

Players like Goetze, may have gone, but the rebuilding is in full effect at Dortmund

Borussia Dortmund is a club that many have learned to love over the years. It is probably the only club in Europe that can be called a club for the fans. Commandeering this big yellow ship is the one and only Jurgen Klopp. Much like the club he loves and manages, Klopp is admired by football fans all over for his heart-on-sleeve approach and the fact that he stands by his philosophies.Over the years, his team might have had their fair share of ups and downs, but the spirit in him continues in the same vein, despite the fact that they are languishing in the relegation zone in the Bundesliga this season. Here are some reasons why he is the most loved manager in the world:

#5 Method of Rebuilding

Players like Goetze, may have gone, but the rebuilding is in full effect at Dortmund

In spite of losing key players, such as Goetze and Lewandowski, a phase of rebuilding has started in a span of two years. Klopp and Dortmund's next step is to maintain what BVB have in terms of player quality and sporting success and to build on that with more depth. Klopp has done the seemingly impossible time and time again, and if there is any coach in the world who can lift Dortmund to permanent status as a global power, it is him.

The obvious challenge for Klopp is to integrate the newcomers and achieve the kind of chemistry that has characterized his successful Dortmund teams, although he might not have achieved any success with it yet in the Bundesliga this season. Probably, the Champions League is the only realistic target this season. Whether Klopp remains BVB coach for four years or decades, his persistence to stay at Dortmund, and forge teams, will have a long lasting impact on the fans at Dortmund.

#4 Ability to thrive with limited funding

Klopp thrives in the very limited scenario at Dortmund

Most teams in the world do not have the luxury of unlimited funds to buy any player they want like Barcelona, Chelsea, Paris Saint-Germain, Manchester City or Real Madrid. Because of the gargantuan gaps between the haves and have-nots, certain teams are forced to play a historically unattractive way to be able to still compete for trophies. Teams like Borussia Dortmund are changing the way pundits and fans look at pragmatic football, with Klopp being one of the reasons to succeed despite this handicap, as one can call it.

Most of the players he buys are from teams that reside in the lower places of the Bundesliga, who are available for a few million Euros or by nurturing academy talents. The way he manages such players is outstanding, considering the budget, the club gives him, notwithstanding the salary that he is paid by the club. The fact that he took Dortmund, to their first ever double in 2012, throws more light to this fact. Henrikh Mkhitaryan, is his most expensive signing till date, with a price tag of £24m.

#3 Nurtures young players

Reus. was one of the many young players that Klopp nurtured

Jurgen Klopp has given young players their opportunity at Dortmund. From Marco Reus to Mario Goetze, many young German players have been given the chance at Dortmund and to make a name for themselves.

The interest he shows in their progress, is something that must be respected. He loves the fast, free-flowing football, and giving academy graduates a chance, who buy into this philosophy, due to their youthful exuberance. The two league titles he won, was with players who weren’t known much outside Germany, but the faith shown in them by Klopp, made them who they are now. Also, his love for the young players is something that never goes unnoticed.

#2 Post match press conferences

Recently, fans were asked about how much they really loved Klopp, and the responses were really mind-blowing. At all times, he seems the most diplomatic manager one can ever come across, praising his team when they perform well, and applauding the opposite team, when his team are outplayed or any other such occasions. His press conferences, post and pre-match, are always the ones to watch out for, since his interaction with the German press is highly enthusiastic.

Also, he is very well received by the English press as the English Language is something that is not strange to him. He is also known for his funny match interviews, like the one given after the Malaga game, or the one given before the Arsenal game, saying how he like his music to be heavy. This makes him quite popular with journalists as well.

#1 Unflinching committment to the club

It can be said that Dortmund are the club of his life. In spite of all the rumours linking him with a move to England in the future, his consistent stance that Dortmund are the only club that he loves, is something commendable, and makes most realize the affection and the drive he has shown to keep succeeding at Dortmund.

It is clear that he values stability. His team’s biggest rivals to the Bundesliga title, Bayern Munich, have periodically signed the best players from Dortmund, an example would be the manner in which they signed Robert Lewandowski on a free transfer in the summer, a year after they acquired Mario Gotze for €37 million.

Though all these moves have been set-backs, they haven’t deterred Klopp’s process as he keeps signing and bringing through players that he can make better and people wonder where they came from and why other teams weren’t fighting to sign them. Their recent exploits in the Champions League suggests that Klopp will have his team ready in the new year, to get back to their best.
