7 Football GIFs that will make you sad

Football is a sport where you see all sorts of drama: happiness, celebrations when your team succeeds, and similarly, sadness and a day of mourning when the team you support loses. The reason to be either sad or happy could be anything, and in this slideshow we churn out 7 moments (or GIFs) that will make the football fan inside you sad.Prepare for the feels!

#1 Men don\'t cry, but when they do, they will make you cry along

After Italy's 4-0 defeat to Spain in the 2012 UEFA Euro 2012 Final, midfielder Andrea Pirlo broke into tears. This was one of the most heart-breaking scenes of the tournament, especially after watching Pirlo work so hard to help Italy reach the final.

And that’s just not it. Pirlo's tears made an appearance yet again as it melted all our heart after Juventus were beaten 3-1 in the Champions League final against Barcelona.

#2 Why won\'t you listen to me?

One of the most recent GIFs, and also one of the funny ones (in a way) if you don't hold any sympathy for poor old David Moyes who has been struggling in finding his ground at Old Trafford this season. He shouts for Wayne Rooney to move to a postion he would probably be better off at, but Rooney doesn't seem to be paying any attention to the Scot.

#3 The sad Brazilian fan

Images of sad Brazillian fans started emerging on social media following Brazil’s humiliating 7-1 defeat at the hands of Germany in their semi-final tie in the ongoing FIFA World Cup.

Among many of those disheartened fans, a fan called Clovis Acosta Fernandes, who is also known as ‘Gaucho da Copa’ became Internet’s new hero after he gave away the replica cup that he was holding onto throughout the match to a German fan following Brazil’s defeat.

Due to his look that includes a hat, scarf and boots that resembles the traditional gaúcho attire, he was given the nickname ‘Gaucho da Copa.’

#4 A side of football we don\'t see every day

A moment which is more painful than injuries or tackles: Watching Laurent Koscielny getting a pat on his head by Birmingham’s Barry Ferguson while celebrating Obafemi Martins’ Carling Cup winner in 2011. Kicking a guy when he is down is probably the worst thing someone could do!

#5 The tearful one

Football is not just a sport, it has connections which are very deep. The GIF of Jose Mourinho consoling Marco Materazzi, as he held on to the Mourinho wailing like a child as the Portuguese was leaving Inter to join Real Madrid. Mourinho's love for his players is well-known, but this side of Mourinho was something they would have never seen coming.

#6 Zinedine Zidane walking past the World Cup after being sent off

The picture of Zidane walking past the 2006 FIFA World Cup after being sent off for head-butting Marco Materazzi after an argument between the two will always be one of the most hurtful moments for any football fan, leaving out the Italians of course.

Had it been not for the sent off, Zinedine Zidane would have lifted the famous trophy for a second time.

#7 Oliver Kahn Santi Canizares after the 2001 Champions League Final

After claiming the 2001 Champions League trophy following a decisive penalty shootout against Valencia, almost every other Bayern Munich player was busy celebrating. But, not Oliver Kahn, Bayern's goalkeeper, who went on to console disheartened Santiago Canizares, Valencia's goalkeeper.

This is one of those moments of sympathy that makes the game more beautiful.
