7 things you didn't know about Harry Kane

Derby days often create a hero in football. As we all know, the latest such player is of course Harry Kane who has taken the Premier League by storm. He’s aged just 21 but has already taken down the Premier League’s top teams and is en route to an England call-up.Two goals against Arsenal in a match-winning performance last weekend has exemplified his stature massively. Added to which, is the trashing he gave Chelsea back on New Year’s day as Spurs 5-3 over the potential champions. Such has been his recent fame that people have already started envision him at Real Madrid. But, before all that, let’s take a look at seven things about him that you probably didn’t know:

#1 He is a big Patriots fan

The New England Patriots are the XLIX Super bowl champions and they have won the title after a long gap of ten years. How exulted Harry Kane must have been for he has been a die-hard Patriots fan for a long time. Perhaps, that translated into his performances at White Hart Lane in the derby.

He has, for long an ardent fan of Tom Brady, one of the best quarterbacks in the game. He is an avid follower of American Football and tweets about the matches regularly. He plays the American Football's fantasy league as well.

#2 He failed to trust himself in Kanes Army

Oh, what a pity? That was the night he destroyed Chelsea and notched up a 5-3 win. Despite picking himself, he chose not to make himself the captain. Instead, he went for David Silva and lost a valuable 15 points. A leaked photo shows us his team while also that of his Spurs teammates. Tom Carroll seems to be the leader while Ryan Mason is level with him. Maybe he’d now be on top hoping he had made him the captain for Gameweek 24 after a stunning performance against Arsenal.

#3 He supports Rory Mcllroy and is a regular golfer

Not just American football but golf as well. Harry Kane backs Rory Mcllroy in the PGA circuit while he celebrated Mcrllroy’s win in the PGA Championship in 2014. Not just that, but Harry Kane is a regular golfer who went as much as to tweet his new shoes last month. He does it often along with his brother Charlie Kane. Take a look at this:

#4 Another addition to Wenger\'s list

This has been in the news for quite some time but not many of you may have noticed it. But judging by how he came back to bite them, it is well worth laughing upon. At the age of 8, he spent a year at the Arsenal youth academy before being rejected and returned back to his earlier club Ridgeway Rovers. It was after that at 11 years when he joined Tottenham and eventually stayed there.

That’s another player that Arsene Wenger possibly let slip and one who has come back to haunt them. The list continues to grow – Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Petr Cech, Samuel Eto'o, Cristiano Ronaldo, Harry Kane and many more. Maybe he seriously needs to reassess the current youngsters.

#5 The Illustrious First pitch

Well, Harry Kane really does have a penchant for sports. As seen in the picture, he threw the craven first pitch of a baseball match in Chicago last year. As part of their pre-season tour, one of the Spurs players was given this opportunity. They had a mini-competition which Harry Kane won and thus, got to throw the first pitch. He sure enjoyed as he did it at the famous Wrigley field at the starting of a match between Chicago Cubs and San Diego Padres.

#6 Birthdays with the big names

Recently, we had February 5 where some illustrious footballers such as Neymar and Cristiano Ronaldo share birthdays. Well, Kane’s got his own such event as he shares his birthday with many such names on July 28. The late Luis Aragones, Spain’s Euro 2008 winning coach is the prominent manager to share his birthday with Harry Kane. While countrymen Michael Carrick, Barca’s Pedro Rodriguez and Arsenal Right-back Mathieu Debuchy also feature in the list.

#7 He has been a life-long Spurs fan

This shouldn’t come as much of a surprise seeing as how much of an impact he’s had in so little time. Back in 1993, Kane was born in the suburban of Walthamstow in Greater London. And that place is just ten minutes away from the White Hart Lane. A river is all that separates these two places and no wonder he’s got such a strong bond with White Hart Lane.

He has been a Spurs fan ever since his childhood days and I’m guessing we know why. It’s become quite rare nowadays to see players come up and emerge from the academy in top clubs and even more so considering those who were fans from a young age.
