Pakistan announced themselves with a bang in the ICC World T20 at Eden Gardens by putting in a clinical performance in their first match against Bangladesh. After a disappointing outing in the Asia Cup, Pakistan were under pressure to come up with a performance that would silence their critics. They did just that as Shahid Afridi put in a spiritedperformance with both bat and ball, leading his side by example to a convincing 55-run win overBangladesh. We take a look at some of the most defining moments from the game, that don't fade away and willstand the test of time - much like the Axe Signature line of body perfumes:

#1 Rare composure from Pakistan\'s batsmen - particularly Ahmed Shehzad and Mohammad Hafeez

After Pakistan lost opener Sharjeel Khan for 18 runs, Ahmed Shehzad and Mohammad Hafeez stitched together a 95-run partnership off just 68 balls to help Pakistan put up a score of 201 on the board.

Shehzad, who last scored a 30-plus score in T20Is back in 2015, scored a 39-ball 52 and gave a fitting answer to his doubters. He refrained from trying any overly ambitious strokes and stuck to finding the gaps, thus ensuring there would be no frenzied mess at the top of the Pakistan batting order - as there so often is.

Hafeez gave able support to Shehzad and finished as the top-scorer with 64 off 42 balls, hitting 7 fours and 2 sixes. The two batsmen formed the backbone of the line-up today, giving the spectators the rare sight of a steady batting performance from Pakistan.

#2 The quintessential \'Afridi moment\' - a flat-batted swat over cover

Shahid Afridi, who usually comes in to bat at No. 7, promoted himself to No. 4 after the fall of the wicket of Ahmed Shehzad. From the first ball itself, the captain looked in great touch, and showed tremendous intent to take on the Bangladeshi bowlers.

Afridi’s 49 off 19 balls included 4 fours and 4 sixes, and helped his side reach a challenging total. The highlight of his innings was his flat-batted shot off Taskin Ahmed’s ball that flew for a maximum over cover. Those are the kind of shots that have earned him the nickname 'Boom Boom'!

#3 Mohammad Amir swinging his way to glory

Mohammad Amir

When Bangladesh came out to bat to chase down a mammoth total of 201, they needed their openers to fire right from the word go. With Soumya Sarkar and Tamim Iqbal opening, Bangladesh had two attacking batsmen at the top of the batting line-up and would have hoped for fireworks early on.

However, it took Mohammad Amir just three balls to make the first breakthrough. The pace sensation produced a brilliant inswinging delivery to go through the gates and get Soumya Sarkar bowled.

Since his return to cricket Amir has been mighty impressive, and this delivery further reinforced how crucial a player the 23-year-old can be for Pakistan at the start of the bowling innings.

#4 Soumya Sarkars unbelievable catch to dismiss Hafeez

While Pakistan’s innings was mostly about the fantastic batting, there was sporadic joy for the Bangladeshi fielders. Soumya Sarkar came up with a moment of magic when he pulled off one of the best catches in recent times to dismiss Mohammad Hafeez.

Hafeez thought he had connected well enough with a slog sweep to clear the boundary at cow corner, but Sarkar leaped up high to grab hold of the ball very close to the boundary line. He then made sure that he threw the ball in the air while maintaining his balance, before coming back into the field of play and completing what was a terrific catch.

While the Bangladeshi fans had little to cheer about in the match, this was one moment that they'll surely remember for a long time to come!

#5 Shakib Al Hasan reaches an important milestone

Bangladesh did not have many positives to take from the game, especially with the bat. Only Shakib Al Hasan and Sabbir Rahman looked half decent while facing a proficient Pakistan bowling line-up.

In his unbeaten innings of 50, Shakib reached the milestone of becoming the second batsman from Bangladesh to reach 1,000 T20I runs. This, of course, assumes added value when you consider Shakib's exploits with the ball too.

The accomplished all-rounder is only the second player after Afridi to have scored more than 1,000 runs and picked up more than 50 wickets in T20Is.
