The South American giants who made it to the finals of the 2014 World Cup have a large pool of exciting talent and we will help you pick the best formation and the best players in each of those positions on the pitch. Considering the rating of the players and their specialised positions, we will go in with the 4-4-2 formation where we will have two central midfielders in front of the defence and two wide midfielders.
#1 Willy Caballero (GK)
FIFA 15 rating: 79
If you were expecting to see Sergio Romero here, then you are obviously in for a surprise as he is rated just 72 in the game. He has had a massive downgrade from 76 to 72 in the space of one year. Manchester City’s second choice goalkeeper Caballero is the nation’s highest rated goalie with a rating of 79. So put him in front of goal without havingsecond thoughts.
#2 Pablo Zabaleta (RB)
FIFA 15 rating: 82
No prizes for guesses! Pablo Zabaleta with a rating of 82 is the first choice right back for Argentina. He is in fact placed among the best right backs in the game. The 29 year old put up a string of impressive performances for the national team in the World Cup and has been instrumental in City winning two league titles in the space of three years.
#3 Javier Mascherano (CB)
FIFA 15 rating: 83
Argentina’s highest rated defender (83) is without a doubt Javier Mascherano. He was their team’s unsung hero and even recently was named Barcelona’s best player last season. Some may argue that he did well as a defensive midfielder, but he will be best utilised if we place him as a CB in our line up.
#4 Ezequiel Garay (CB)
FIFA 15 rating: 83
Ezequiel Garay is also rated at 83 in FIFA 15, receiving an upgrade of one rating point from the previous year. There is so much talk about how weak the Argentine defence is, but the one in the game doesn’t give you that feeling. The 28 year old is currently plying his trade in Russia for Zenit St. Petersburg after having previously played for Real Madrid and Benfica.
#5 Marcos Rojo (LB)
FIFA 15 rating: 79
From 76 in FIFA 14, to 79 in FIFA 15, Marcos Rojo’s upgrade is primarily due to the fact that he put in a terrific performance for his side in Brazil. He even made it to the World Cup 11 of the tournament and in the end earned a dream transfer to Manchester United. Even though he is a listed as a CB, he can also play as a LB as we saw in the showpiece event.
#6 Enzo Perez (CM)
FIFA 15 rating: 80
He did make a few appearances for Argentina in the World cup sometimes coming in for the injured Angel Di Maria. But if you want to be successful with ‘La Albiceleste’, this guy should be a regular in the playing eleven. He is rated 80 in the game and can put in a quick shift from attack to defence.
#7 Ever Banega
FIFA 15 rating: 80
It was a toss up between Ever Banega and Alberto Costa for the other Central Midfielder spot. Biglia was also in the mix, but since these two are rated 80, he wasn’t considered. Alberto is one of the best free kick takers in FIFA 15, but still Banega’s defensive traits give him the edge and the Sevilla man is younger by three years.
#8 Ezequiel Lavezzi (LM)
FIFA 15 rating: 82
The pacy winger would be the guy you should be playing on the left side of the pitch. After enjoying a fruiful spell at Napoli, he is now playing for French heavyweights Paris Saint-Germain. But it is quite surprising to know that Lavezzi has actually had a big downgrade in FIFA 15 from FIFA 14 as he has lost 3 rating points. It doesn’t matter, he should still be in your eleven.
#9 Angel Di Maria (RM)
FIFA 15 rating: 86
Angel Di Maria retains his rating of 86 from FIFA 14, and that certainly is surprising considering the kind of season he had for Real Madrid last season. Anyway, he is one of those few players who is rated above 85 in that Argentine squad and that seals his spot in the right midfield.
#10 Sergio Aguero (ST)
FIFA 15 rating: 86
28 goals in 34 matches last season, Aguero has been in some form for the last couple of years. Make use of it by playing him up front. He was rated 88 in FIFA 14, but has bizarrely dropped two rating points this year. He is placed among the best strikers in the game.
#11 Lionel Messi (ST)
FIFA 15 rating: 93
Did you seriously expect someone else? Of course it has to be the man who is the highest rated player in this year’s edition of EA SPORTS FIFA. He was named the player of the tournament in the World Cup recently where he won 4 successive man of the match awards. With 44 goals already, that tally is only going to increase in the coming years. Its up to you to do the same in the virtual world.
