5 instances when Cristiano Ronaldo shut down journalists

Ronaldo would never play if not competely fit
Ronaldo would never play if not competely fit

Ronaldo is one of the best on the field and off it Cristiano Ronaldo was not in a happy mood during a recent Champions League press conference. The Real Madrid forward was quizzed by journalists about his poor scoring form away from home.Ronaldo has not scored an away goal since November 29, 2015, that too against Eibar in La Liga and the Portuguese forward let rip on a journalist that asked him about his lack of goals.“Who else has scored more goals away from home than me since I arrived in Spain? Name one player who has scored more than me. No answer? OK. Thank you,” he said before he walked out of the press conference. The reporter tried to ask the question to the Real Madrid forward once again but got no response. This wasn't the first time journalists have upset Ronaldo, the three-time Ballon d'Or winner does have a mean streak and that isn't reserved for goalkeepers or defences. Here are five instances when Ronaldo snapped back at journalists:

#1 No feigning injury

Being a top level performer, Ronaldo hasn't been prone to injury and that is a good thing since we get to see him score amazing goals for Portugal and now for Real Madrid.

When Ronaldo was suffering from a calf injury in 2014, there were suggestions that he was playing even though he was not completely fit. A reporter tried to question Ronaldo and asked him if he was irresponsible playing with an injury that has not healed completely, especially in a match against Valladolid.

"I left at the 8th minute. Against Celta, I didn't travel. Here at home, I left. If I was to force it, I would have played without giving my best. But you can't give your all when you leave."

"The players give their all and then they break. That's forcing it. If you don't give your all, you don't break, and that's what happened to me."

#2 A record breaking night

Breaking records is Ronaldo's job

Goals are what makes Cristiano Ronaldo the main man for Real Madrid and he broke another record when he scored his 500th career goal against Malmo earlier 2015. Trust the media to wind up the star in one way or another.

Gerard Pique had earlier thanked singer Kelvin Roldan, who had shared a photo with Ronaldo after Madrid lost to rivals Atletico in the derby. Pique didn't let this go and had a blast on social media.

When the journalist asked Ronaldo about his response to this, the 31-year-old shot back: "You know why I don't speak more often? You're intelligent... you must be to have this job. It's because the questions aren't good!

"What has that got to do with today's game? Can't you talk about the good things that have happened? This is why I don't speak more. You want me to fall into the same trap as Pique."

#3 The derby loss

Ronaldo does not like to lose

Losing to Barcelona might be the worst thing for Real Madrid but the rise of Atletico, their city rivals is surely something that eats up every Real fan. What is worse is that Atletico, in recent years, have been able to match Real at least in the league games.

Real Madrid lost to Atletico 4-0 last season, Ronaldo, had just returned to the side after serving a two-match ban for getting sent off against Cordoba. He walked off against Cordoba while pointing to his Club World Cup badge.

The journalist asked Ronaldo what the gesture meant but the former Manchester United player was in no mood to discuss that.

"Do you want to talk about today or about Cordoba, that was three months ago now.

"What do you want me to say? If you were an intelligent journalist you’d asked me questions about today’s game."

#4 Ronaldo doesn\'t like FIFA

FIFA doesn't concern Ronaldo

Ronaldo is the face of many brands. Not only does he have great footballing skills but he has the style, face and personality to carry any product line forward, at least men's product lines.

During an interview where he was supposed to promote a range of headphones, the La Liga and Premier League winner wasn't too pleased with the line of questioning and had a pop at the journalist who was asking him about the FIFA corruption scandal.

“Do you want me to be honest? It doesn’t worry me at all. I do my profession, my job, I give me all for my club … the rest doesn’t matter to me. I don’t care what happens on the outside.”

He then went on a tirade against FIFA and the journalist.

#5 The channel he does not like

I wont answer your questions
I wont answer your questions

Ronaldo might be one of the most well-known people in the world but that doesn't mean he would know you. Well, you wouldn't expect Ronaldo to know everyone but he should be knowledgeable about the media at least.

That, however wasn't the case in 2014 when Ronaldo was taking part in a press conference related to a qualifying game for the Euro 2016 championship. A question from the news organisation CMTV came towards Ronaldo but he wasn't ready to answer their questions.

“You can forget about it, I’m not answering you,” he told the journalist in question.

“Not worth it. Don’t insist”.

In all fairness, the organisation is well-known and Ronaldo was probably just slating the journalist since the channel had criticised the Portugal national team for a while.
