The FIFA World Cup 2014 is coming nearer and near. People are expecting football giants like Brazil, Germany, Spain, etc. to dominate this years world cup. But there are some underdogs, who can shock the football world.I have made a list of top 5 teams who can give the giants a tough time, during this world cup.
#5 Colombia

Colombia’s attacking force is a thing to fear in this World Cup. This team lacks some quality at the back, but they have experienced and quality players in their mid-field and attack. Most of these players are currently at their peak age (25-29). They will be playing in the Group C along with Côte d'Ivoire, Japan and Greece. Colombia’s start striker Falcao is a doubt for the world cup. Though he is there in the Colombia’s World Cup squad, they are not sure, when they can get Falcao back into full fitness. Colombia can be more dangerous than expected if Falcao returns to fitness faster than expected.
Players to watch out for: Radamel Falcao(28), James Rodriquez(22), Juan Cuadrado(26), Fredy Guarin(27) and Jackson Martinez(27).
#4 Croatia

They have a balanced squad, with a minimum of one experienced player in each position. They have a quality mid-field. They have two awesome distributors (Modric and Rakitic) and with them in the squad, it is easy for the strikers to find the net. Set pieces will be their main weapon. Modric and Rakitic are awesome freekick takers and they have forwards who are good at heading the ball into the net. They will be playing in the Group A, along with Brazil, Cameroon and Mexico.
Players to watch out for: Luka Modric(28), Ivan Rakitic(26), Mario Mandzukic(28), Mateo Kovacic(20) and Dejan Lovren(24).
#3 Uruguay

Another team, who has a very deadly strike force. They defense is quite balanced, but their mid-field lacks quality. At the back, there is a combination of experience and quality. Why this team is a threat for other teams is their strike force. Suarez and Cavani can really kill the opponent’s defense. And they have Forlan who can give inspiration and experience to the squad. Suarez’s injury created a heart break to Uruguay, but it was told that Suarez will recover before the world cup. Uruguay is capable of handling the group stage without Suarez, nut if Suarez does not return before the pre quarters, Uruguay will be doomed. They will be playing in the Group D along with England, Italy and Costa Rica.
Players to watch out for: Luis Suarez(27), Edinson Cavani(27), Diego Godin(28), Fernando Muslera(27) and Maxi Pereira(29).
#2 Cte d\'Ivoire

This team has a number of quality players, but it does not have a very good playing 11 that can challenge for the world cup. But this team can be a threat to other teams, because of the quality players they have. Players who can make an impact are their mid-fielders and strikers. They have strength and finishing in their mid-field and attack. They will be playing in the Group C along with Colombia, Japan and Greece.
Players to watch out for: Yaya Toure(31), Didier Drogba(36), Wilfried Bony(25), Cheick Tiote(27) and Serge Aurier(21).
#1 Belgium

This team has everything in their squad, quality, strength, pace, accuracy, finishing. Lack of experience together as a team is the only disadvantage they have, but we can’t predict, if they will show their lack of experience in this World Cup. Belgium is a group of young, but talented and experienced players, who can make a serious impact in this World Cup. They can easily make it to semi-finals, if the players remain in form and also if they don’t get struck by injury problems. Maybe if they can hide their inexperience together as a team, they can also fight for the world cup. They will be playing in the Group H along with Algeria, Russia and South Korea.
Players to watch out for: Eden Hazard (23), Thibaut Courtois(22), Vincent Kompany(28), Romelu Lukaku(21) and Axel Witsel(25).
There are also teams like Cameroon, Chile, Japan, Switzerland, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Nigeria who can threaten the other teams. Out of these Chile and Bosnia are the ones who are really threatening. Japan is unlucky to be in Group C where they will have to fight Colombia, Côte d'Ivoire and Greece. It will be a great achievement if they can get to the pre-quarters, this time.
