Why Germany will win the FIFA World Cup 2014

The 2014FIFA World Cup was expected to give football fans all over the globe an experience theyd never be able to forget. The fact that the Brazilians were the hosts this year only added to the never-ending pile of excitement and it also instilled a carnivallikefeeling in the heart of the fans. The marquee footballtournament kicked off this month and has lived up to the hype and hopes of the fans, media, sponsors and the teams. Every matchhas resulted in an adrenaline rush with most of the teams, if not all, adoptingan attacking approach to every game contrary to the orthodox cautious approach which was formerly adopted by them.Even thedead rubbershaventdisappointed this year. Take for instance the Argentina vs Nigeria clash. Argentina were already through to the next round and nobody expected them to go full throttle. But, yet again, they surprised everybody by attacking right from the start which resulted in a goal each by either teams in the opening five minutes, something not usually seen in a World Cup group-stage match.Predictions have been rife as to who will go on to eventually lift the iconic and most prestigious trophy in football at theMaracanawith Brazil being touted as the favourites due to obvious reasons. An all South American final is on the cards too, with Argentina, Brazil, Uruguay, Chile andColombia all through to the round of sixteen. However, my pick to go ahead and lift the trophy out ofthe sixteen remaining nations in the tournament isGermany. There are various factors which influenced my decision to tip Germany to go through and lift the trophy but, I would like to tell you that not long ago, my favourites to win the trophy, like the majority of the people out there were Brazil. The reason for thischange of heart were Brazils underwhelmingperformances in their first two group stage encounters. They were literally beingcarriedby Neymar throughout the two games and nobody else seemed to step up and take responsibility except for Oscar, who occasionally showed flashes of brilliance. When you browse through the 23 man German contingent, your first thought is Whose not worthy of representing their nation ?By being worthy, i just mean to convey what kind of form they have shown in the lead-up to the World Cup. There is an abundance of quality, flair, technique, experience, brilliance and most importantly, youth. The average age of the German squad is 26.31 and what adds to this brilliant fact is the kind of form the players have been in.

#1 Winning Attitude

Each and every player in the German squad (couple of exceptions possible) is in his prime and is ready to give his all. When you look at the likes of Goetze, Mueller, Ozil, Khedira, Lahm and Schweinsteiger, you cannot help but imagine how tough a job it is for opponents to put up any kind of fight against these army of superstars.

What adds to this is their players’ achievements at the domestic level. Bayern have been in top form and have been the best team in Europe for a couple of season’s now inspite of their humbling at the hands of Real Madrid.

At least 8 of Germany’s eleven players fielded on the pitch represent Bayern Munich in the Bundesliga and their winning attitude is benficial for the national team. They know how to win, they can absorb all the pressure, they know what it is like to conquer the opponent and go on to lift trophy. The hunger for victory is instilled in them and they know their way out of tough situations.

#2 Ample Amount Of Backup

Another boon to the German squad which is a very handy advantage over their opponents is the back-up at their exposal incase one of their important player’s gets injured. Say for example, if Mueller has an injury which will rule him out for a match, Low can turn to the experienced Klose who is now level on the all time top-scorer’s in the World Cup with Ronaldo.

If Brasil or any other team have that kind of an issue, they dont have readymade replacements. If Neymar is ruled out for a match, Brazil will, in all certainty, be left spineless. Fred is an option but he’s not the talisman who can lead Brasil to victory single-handedly.

#3 Fearlessness And Confidence

The fearless attitude of the German’s come’s very handy while facing a tough opponent. They aren’t subdued by pressure or the opponent they are facing, no matter how good a team it may be. The know how to ply their trade in difficult conditions and emerge victorious in the best way possible.

The availability of skilled midfielders has allowed Joachim Low to adopt a beautiful style of play while on the counter and, watching them attacking an opponents goal is as mesmerising as it can get. The cross-field passes exchanged between the midfielders are pinpoint, ooze class and are wonderfully controlled which helps in creating a substantial amount of goalscoring chances for their ever so dangerous forwards

#4 Rock Solid Defence

Looking at the kind of defender’s Germany have in their squad, you cannot help but wonder how Ghana were able to nick two goals past them. In Manuel Neur,Germany have one of the worlds best and most responsible keeper’s.

The heart of their defence has heavyweights like Mats Hummels and Per Mertesacker who, as mentioned earlier, are in the prime of their respective career’s and are like rock’s at the heart of the German defence, thereby easing Neur’s woes.

#5 Fantastic Leader

Lastly, the German’s have a brilliant leader in the form of Joachim Low. He has been the head coach since 2008,and knows what style of play suits the German’s and what kind of players he requires in order to successfully implement his style of play.

It was Low who, along with former head coach Jurgen Klinsmann brought about a change in the style of play the German’s usually adopted. He succesfully eradicated the defensive and cautious approach adopted by Germany and replaced it with some exciting attacking football. Along with that, Low also gave preference to youth’s, a policy whose dividends are evident now.
