Another transfer window is upon us, so rumours in the Daily Express have already resurfaced that Arsenal will make a bid for Salomon Kalou as they look to strengthen their forward options for next season.

The Gunners have repeatedly been linked with the Ivorian since he departed Chelsea to join Lille two years ago and were rumoured to be keen on bringing Kalou to the club in January as they sought immediate cover for Olivier Giroud.

With no striker purchased in the winter transfer window and an obvious need to provide competition and alternatives for Giroud, Arsenal will once again discuss a move for Kalou, but they will not be alone in their pursuit of the former Blues man.

Liverpool are also set to enter the race to sign Kalou, as they look to provide back-up for their superb strike force of Daniel Sturridge and Luis Suarez after seeing their title challenge fall away at the last minute.

Brendan Rodgers is a fan of the Ivorian forward after working with him during their time together at Chelsea and believes his wealth of Premier League experience stands him in good stead to be part of his rejuvenated title hunt next season.

Both Liverpool and Arsenal will not have a clear run at Kalou however, with interest from Atletico Madrid, Roma, Monaco and Galatasaray all standing after an impressive two years in Ligue 1.
