1980: Birth of Abby Wambach, an American professional soccer player, coach, two-time Olympic gold medallist, and the 2012 FIFA World Player of the Year.

1988: Birth of Sergio Aguero, an Argentine footballer who plays as a striker for Premier League club Manchester City and the Argentine national team.2004: Jose Mourinho made a splash when he was announced as Chelsea’s new manager, declaring to the media at his first press conference at Stamford Bridge that he was “the Special One.”

Cricket1865: Birth of George Lohmann, who is regarded as one of the greatest bowlers of all time. Statistically, he holds the lowest lifetime Test bowling average among bowlers with more than fifteen wickets.

1965: Birth of Waugh brothers in the Sydney suburb of Bankstown. Steve, about four minutes older than Mark, made his Test debut five years before his brother lit up Adelaide with a dreamy 138 in 1990-91. Mark had been called up to replace Steve, but they eventually became the first twins to play in a Test together; in all they did it 108 times.

1973: Birth of Jayantha Silva, a former Sri Lankan cricketer who played in 7 Tests and one ODI from 1995 to 1998.

1987: Birth of Angelo Mathews, a Sri Lankan cricketer and the present captain of their Test and ODI sides.

1989: Birth of Steven Smith, an Australian international cricketer who currently plays for the New South Wales Blues and the Pune Warriors India.

1976: Birth of Earl Boykins, an American professional basketball player who has most recently played for the Houston Rockets of the NBA.

1969: Birth of David Wheaton, a former professional tennis player from the United States.
