World No. 20 and 4th seeded Joshna Chinappa won her 8th WSA tour event, defeating Heba El Torky from Egypt 11-13 11-8 11-5 3-11 12-10 in the final of the Winter Club Open, a $15,000 WSA event in the Canadian city of Winnipeg.
Leading 2-1, Joshna lost the 4th game and had to save 3 match balls in the 5th game as she clawed her way from 7-10 to win the decider and title 12-10.
En route to the final, Joshna defeated Misaki Kobayashi (Japan) in the semifinal 3-1, Siyoli Waters (South Africa) in the quarterfinal 3-0 and Jaycee Seagrud (Canada) in her first round match 3-0.
