Thiruvananthapuram to host National Squash Championships from July 7

The 63rd edition of the National Squash Championships will be held at the Chandrasekharan Nair Stadium from July 7 to 12. 

The men’s section of the draw will likely see the participation of top players Saurav Ghosal, defending champion Harinder Pal Sandhu, Mahesh Mangaonkar and four-time champion Ritwik Bhattacharya. 

In the women’s section, 12-time champion Joshna Chinappa, Anaka Alankamony, Saumya Karki and Aparajitha Balamurukan will compete for the top honors. India’s No. 1 Dipika Pallikal is yet to confirm her participation in the tournament. 

Most of the players are accustomed to the conditions as the National Games were held in Kerala earlier this year. 

The director of this national, Cyrus Poncha said that the final line-up of players will be known on June 15. "As far I know a lot of players want to comeback to Thiruvananthapuram and play after the recent National Games," Poncha said.

World No. 21 Saurav Ghosal is keen to win his 10th title at the National Games. 

"I have been national champion for nine straight years. I want to triumph in Thiruvananthapuram too,"Ghosal said.
