This week on The Young and the Restless, I have a feeling Audra is about to find out the hard way what it means to mess with the Abbotts, the Newmans, and fate. The soap is barreling towards the Dumas party in France, which is the perfect location for an ugly betrayal, or at least that's the plan.
Victor is trying to control everything like a chess master, using Audra to manipulate Kyle and sabotage his relationship with Claire. But while he thinks he's ahead, Audra's scheme is likely to blow up in a big way on The Young and the Restless.
Her plan depends on too many things going right—Claire staying out of the picture, Nate being distracted, and Kyle slipping into old habits, which makes it risky and unreliable.
While Kyle is in a very raw emotional place, he isn't obligated to give in to Audra and go along with what she wants. And one thing we've seen from Claire is that she's more aware than Victor or Audra has given her credit for.
She's not present at the party, but she's still very much in this equation. Between vagueries in loyalties, potential reactivities, and the all-seeing eyes of the Newman clan on the lookout, this scenario is not only a potential disaster, it looks like one.
Victor's plan may work too well on The Young and the Restless
Victor's plan seems clever enough, as it gives Kyle a little competition with Audra at the Dumas party; he is using Kyle's past and Claire's absence to create a "gotcha" moment. The goal?
Make Kyle look untrustworthy to separate him and Claire. But if Kyle does mess up (even if for an instant), the harms of Victor's plan could lead to consequences that could cause a range of not-so-unforeseen circumstances, even likely for Victor.
The situation becomes even more precarious because of the clause Kyle agreed to in his contract with Victor: if he breaks Claire's heart, he leaves Genoa City. For somebody tied to their family and young son as Kyle is, that is a big heartache. And, if the party optics are misleading (which is likely), Kyle could completely lose out because of the ploy.
Audra's confidence could be her undoing on The Young and the Restless
Audra has been one of the more calculated players on the board lately. She plays to power, charms certain obstacles to the side, and pitches loyalty to serve her interests. But here she may have overplayed her hand, because Audra seems to quantify her capacity to shape the narrative.
She is going into the Dumas party without Nate by her side, and she seems intent on Kyle falling directly into her trap. That confidence is dangerous. If Claire finds out, or, heaven forbid, sees a picture of Kyle and Audra in some kind of cuddly pose, it is not going to hurt only Claire.
The fallout could be substantial. Nate could dump Audra, Claire could still walk away from Kyle, and Victor could have hell to pay with both Nikki and Victoria, both of whom have no tolerance for anything that disrupts the family dynamic. And then there's Summer. If the custody of Harrison becomes a conflict, it could get very severe!
The fallout will get more than just Kyle on The Young and the Restless
This isn’t just a fallout for one couple, though; if Victor exercises the option in the contract, the implications are that Kyle has to leave Genoa City. That means taking Harrison away from his home, Jack, and Diane.
This would be disastrous, not just for the adults. Audra might think she is playing this just right, but her mistake will shatter a little boy’s world, and that kind of fallout you never escape unscathed from.
Audra may lose more than she gains on The Young and the Restless
Ultimately, I think Audra is trying to be everyone’s better player will backfire in the worst way. If the plan goes “too well,” she could lose Nate, burn bridges with the Abbotts, and then alienate Victor, too.
If it doesn’t go well? She faces being outed as a manipulator with no allies to back her up. Either way, she is just not going down a road with a happy ending. Dumas may be where she tries to rewrite her destiny, but I have a feeling it’ll be where she rewrites her downfall instead on The Young and the Restless.
