Tucker McCall, a controversial and memorable figure on The Young and the Restless, first appeared on the show in 2009. To some extent, Tucker as a character is interesting as a billionaire with a questionable past and deep connections to the elite of Genoa City.
Tucker held the distinction of being the long-lost son of soap legend Katherine Chancellor. His arrival caused a major disruption to multiple storylines as he sought revenge on Katherine for leaving him.
Over the years, he became hugely important to some of the show's greatest corporate struggles. It was particularly involved with Chancellor Industries and had a role in the drama between the much-beloved Jabot Cosmetics and his former company, Chancellor Industries.

The story of Tucker McCall on The Young and the Restless
Tucker, born and raised in Ohio, was given up for adoption by Katherine Chancellor and subsequently raised by adoptive parents. During his teenage years, Tucker ran away to Europe and, under the moniker "Mick", managed rock bands. He made some money, but always felt an underlying rejection.
When he came to Genoa City on The Young and the Restless in 2009, he was using a false identity. He worked with J.T. Hellstrom and secretly acquired Chancellor Industries. At a random shareholders' meeting, he shocked everyone by declaring that he was Katherine's son.
This one revelation set off years of personal and corporate fallout for Tucker and everyone involved. His first act of revenge included selling off parts of Chancellor Industries and continuing actions against Katherine while pushing away almost everyone but her.
However, Tucker's mask began to slip as he began to build an authentic relationship with his mother and eventually Devon. Devon was his newly discovered son, from a past one-night stand with Yolanda Hamilton, later changed to Harmony.
Unfortunately, his attempts to create a bond with Devon were sabotaged, first by his past and later by Devon's refusal to trust him on The Young and the Restless.
Tucker’s love life was no less complicated. He began dating Ashley Abbott and married her in 2011. Their marriage ended when he cheated on Ashley with Harmony. Their relationship was very deep, but Ashley filed for divorce.
In addition to the infidelity, Ashley cited Tucker's inability to choose family over ambition, which he stated he would do, as a reason for divorce. This, combined with the betrayal of the affair with Harmony, caused Devon to pull away from Tucker once again.
While in Genoa City, he spent most of his time on his tumultuous business journey, often torn between business rivals like Jack Abbott, Victor Newman, and Sharon Newman.
Tucker tried to leverage his relationship with Sharon to complete a hostile takeover of Newman Enterprises (while proposing marriage to Sharon under the assumption that Victor was dead). Ultimately, the takeover failed, along with his arrest by the SEC, leaving Tucker’s reputation in tatters on The Young and the Restless.
Eventually, Tucker left town for Hong Kong but did manage to return to Genoa City to reconcile with Katherine a brief time before she passed away. Although he couldn't bring himself to attend her funeral, he took her loss very personally. In her will, she bequeathed him her treasured record collection (a gift representing her understanding of his love of music, which was the only love in his life that was not at all subject to manipulation or profit).
When Tucker returned to the canvas in 2022 after a long absence, he returned to the corporate field in Genoa City to finish what he started with both Ashley and Devon. Although he was older and, as a businessman, perhaps less impulsive and aggressive, he remained interested in continued power plays and personal stakes.
His last chapter on The Young and the Restless ended in June 2024, leaving behind a long and storied legacy of ambition, devastation, and emotional chaos.
