Scott Starzyk, a three-star kicker from The Woodlands, Texas, is one of the best players at his position in the Class of 2025. He has already announced his commitment to the Iowa Hawkeyes; however, the Michigan Wolverines are still in play to flip his commitment.

The Wolverines have had some great kickers play for them over the years. Players such as Jake Moody, James Turner and one of the best kickers in the country, Dominic Zvada, have all played for Michigan. Sherrone Moore and company are hoping to carry that forward and sign one of the best kickers in the 2025 class.

Starzyk visited the Michigan campus in September despite committing to the Hawkeyes in July. That bodes well for the Ann Arbor-based team.

Starzyk, 5-foot-9, is the fifth-best player at his position in his class, according to On3. He is also the 300th-best prospect from the state of Texas.

Scott Starzyk committed to the Iowa Hawkeyes on July 18

Scott Starzyk committed to the Iowa Hawkeyes in mid-July, despite high interest from some of the best college football programs such as Michigan, Syracuse and Memphis.

"It’s an opportunity to play on some of the biggest stages while being coached by one of the best special teams coordinators in the business," Starzyk told HawkeyeReport.com about his decision. "I like how detailed Coach Woods (special teams coordinator LeVar Woods) is with the specialists and every decision that he makes.

"Also, the consistency within the program due to Coach Ferentz’s (Kirk Ferentz) long tenure as head coach."

The Iowa Hawkeyes (3-2, 1-1 Big Ten) are ranked No. 39 in the country by 247Sports. They have landed 15 commitments from the Class of 2025. They have extended a further 107 offers to athletes from the class.

However, the Hawkeyes will have to be wary of the Michigan Wolverines as they are set to make an effort to flip Scott Starzyk's commitment. Sherrone Moore and the company have a 92.1% chance of doing so, according to the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine.
