Montverde Academy is known for its all-star rosters, for both boys' and girls' basketball. Melissa Odom is one of these decorated stars in the program, who paid an official visit to Texas Tech on Friday.The four-star power forward even rocked the team's jersey for the visit photoshoot. Missy Odom's former Montverde Academy teammate, Aaliyah Crump, who has committed to the Texas Longhorns for next season, also shared her excitement on the visit. The school, best known for producing Duke star Cooper Flagg, is considered to be one of the best basketball programs in the country.Odom is ranked No. 38 from the Class of 2026 by 247Sports and is the No. 14 power forward in the country. Missy Odom is also a softball star, winning a state championship as a sophomoreOriginally from Alabama, Missy Odom used to play both softball and basketball for Jasper High School. It was at Jasper where the four-star power forward tasted championship glory in softball.Odom won the Class 5A softball title with the school, beating the tournament's No. 1 seed, Moody, in May 2024. She played as a pitcher and was named the Class 5A Player of the Year for 2024. She was the finals MVP as well. Earlier that year, she also helped her school win the Class 5A state championship in basketball.She is expected to play both softball and basketball should she choose Texas Tech.
