Former New York Knicks star Carmelo Anthony and actress La La Anthony are fixtures whenever their son, Kiyan Anthony, plays a game. However, during last year's Metro Classic 2024 event against Link Academy, the Syracuse signee had one of his layup attempts blocked, and this did not make his mom and dad happy.
The clip was shared by SportsCenter NEXT on Instagram on Saturday.
As Anthony went for an easy layup, he was chased down and blocked from behind. The camera then showed Carmelo and La La Anthony's reaction, with Carmelo telling his son that he should have hit a reverse, while La La just looked disappointed. This reaction from the four-star shooting guard's parents got fans talking:
"That was not a foul … but the look on Lala face. Priceless," said one commenter.
"Melo laughin but LALA Wanna Clear The stands and start a brawl look at her face like who’s kid is this! 😂😂😂" another person pointed out.
"It's was all ball....but I'm like Lala .."my baby hit the ground....we squabbling". 😂😂😂" another commenter added.
Meanwhile, others were noting that Kiyan Anthony took this moment and used it to improve his game. Meanwhile, others were just amused by his dad's reaction.
"Naw that’s the sign he ready . That’s motivation to improve. Each lesson has a sacrifice to be the greatest.. 🔥🔥🔥 💎," said another person.
"He gone get it one day. I can see it. He determined! ☘️☘️," another one noted.
"lol I love that melo enjoying the game and talking like a fan of it. They going to work on that play though lol," one commenter added.

Kiyan Anthony was lauded for his rapid improvement, going from bench warmer to star player for Long Island Lutheran in a year. While he missed the first half of the season due to injury, he bounced back to lead the Crusaders to the Nike EYBL Scholastic final, which they lost.
Kiyan Anthony has ended his high school career after a stellar season with Long Island Lutheran
Kiyan Anthony graduated from high school last week and is about to head to Syracuse. While he missed much of his senior season due to injury, it was still a stellar one, as he led the Crusaders to an 18-game winning streak that took LuHi to the finals of the Nike EYBL Scholastic, only falling to Link Academy in the final.
They then participated in the Throne Hoops National Championships, which LuHi won, and Anthony earned the MVP. Then, they participated in the Chipotle Nationals, losing in an overtime thriller against Darryn Peterson and Prolific Prep in the second round.
While he was not named a McDonald's All-American, Kiyan Anthony made the Jordan Brand Classic and won MVP honors.
