On December 11, 2023, the BTS member enlisted for the mandatory military service with fellow bandmate Kim Namjoon. Following the completion of five weeks of basic military training, he was admitted to the Army General Administration School, where he underwent three weeks of extensive training.

He was then deployed to the Ssangyong Unit of the 2nd Corps under the Special Task Force, Military Police Corps, on February 8, 2024. Meanwhile, he released his collaborative track Winter Ahead (feat. Park Hyo-shin) on November 29, 2024, accompanied by two music videos shared on HYBE LABEL's official YouTube channel. It was dropped through BigHit Music.

The Love Me Again singer is expected to be discharged from the mandatory military service in June 2025.
