Daddy's Head is a horror movie that is coming to Shudder on October 11, 2024. It stars Mary Woodvine and Rupert Turnball, among others. The film will only be available to viewers who have a Shudder subscription.

Director Benjamin Barfoot of Double Date (2017) is the writer and director of Daddy's Head. Barfoot, known for his compelling writing, is set to put viewers on the edge of their seats once more. Daddy's Head will take the audience into the dark with a story about a boy and his stepmother who struggle to deal with a creature that resembles the boy's deceased father.

British actress Mary Woodvine has previously starred in movies and shows like Bait (2019), The Road to Zennor (2017), Pie in the Sky (1994-1997), and more.

In this film, she stars as Mary. More information about her character is not available at the time of writing this article, however, as hinted in the trailer, Mary seems to be one of Isaac’s family members.

Mary appears to be worried in the trailer. When she confronts Isaac about his strange and distant behavior, arguing that his father has come back to life, Isaac sketches her a picture of his father's new body, which resembles a demonic creature.

Plot Summary of Daddy's Head

The story of Daddy's Head revolves around Isaac, who experiences his father's passing early on in the movie. Following that, Isaac starts living with his stepmother Laura, and becomes isolated from everyone.

Shortly after, Isaac hears his father's voice in his sleep, beckoning him to the woods. Isaac goes to the woods after hearing the whispers and later tells his family that his father has returned. He creates a scary sketch of his father's new shape. Everyone in the house has a terrible and difficult life soon after, as the spirit claiming to be Isaac's deceased father begins haunting them all.

The synopsis of the film as per Rotten Tomatoes reads:

"In the wake of his father's untimely death, a young boy is left in the eerie solitude of a sprawling country estate with his newly widowed stepmother. Struggling to navigate the overwhelming task of parenthood, his stepmother grows distant, leaving their fragile bond at risk of collapse."

It continues:

"Amidst the growing tension, the boy begins to hear unsettling sounds echoing through the corridors, and is soon haunted by the presence of a grotesque creature bearing a disturbingly familiar resemblance to his late father. As the boy's warnings are dismissed as the imagination of a grieving child, the sinister entity tightens its grip on their crumbling lives."
