Actress Kate Beckinsale has once again reacted to a commenter's barrage of criticism regarding her physique during a challenging period of her life. On May 25, 2024, in a now-deleted Instagram post, Beckinsale, who roamed around in her trailer in a retro-style look, was called "too thin."

As per Page Six, in the comments section of the post, she expressed the emotional toll of witnessing the loss of two beloved fathers, personal loss, and health scare.

"I nursed my stepdad to his death early this year. My mum also has stuff going on. I am adjusting to watching two fathers die, one when I was 5, one in January of this year," Kate Beckinsale said.

As per Mirror, Richard Beckinsale, the father of the Underworld actress, died from a massive heart attack in 1979. Also, her stepfather, Roy Battersby, died on January 15, 2024, after a short illness announced by the actress on Instagram.

Kathrin Romany Beckinsale, born July 26, 1973, is an English actress. She is known for her role as a vampire in 2003's Underworld.

On Saturday, Kate Beckinsale shared a video post on her Instagram showing the preparations for her forthcoming movie, Stolen Girl, a 1990s-inspired movie.

Netizens under the post quickly commented on her physique, suggesting that she has become skinny and should strike a balance, as her cheekbones were so prominent. Beckinsale clapped back, indicating that she had spent six weeks in hospital from a "Mallory-Weiss tear" and lost her soulmate cat.

"I lost my soulmate cat of almost 19 years, also last year. I spent six weeks in hospital due to copiously vomiting blood from a Mallory-Weiss tear caused by the stress of a whole year ripping a hole between my esophagus and stomach," Beckinsale replied on Instagram.

Kate Beckinsale further revealed in a now-deleted Instagram post that she experienced a severe flare-up of her mast cell disease, which caused a massive weight loss.

"At the same time, I experienced a severe flare-up of my mast cell disease, also mitigated by stress, shock, and grief. That's what I am prepared to disclose that has contributed to some weight loss," Beckinsale added.

The Pearl Harbor actress slammed the commenter, suggesting that their comments about her appearance or family do not matter to her.

"What you think of my appearance and how I should look, independently of any circumstances in my life and my family's is not important," she added.

Reflecting on her health scare, Kate Beckinsale further suggested that she is trying to recover from "unbearable losses" and "reactivated PSTD."

"I am trying to survive what feel like unbearable losses, reactivated PTSD from discovering my very young fathers's almost dead body as a very young child alone in the night, and working to support the family I have left."

Beckinsale concluded by suggesting that the people commenting on her post have no right to call out other women about their appearance.

"The fact you fancy girls who are heavier than I am does not feature in things that are important or relevant. The fact you feel your opinion is required to bully females about their appearance is relevant to me because it needs to stop feeling like it is your, or anyone's right.
"I don't care what your taste in women is. I care that you think any of us need to be apprised of it," the actress concluded.

This is not the first time Beckinsale has reacted to people's comments on her appearance. On May 7, 2024, the 50-year-old actress shared a video of herself in a now-deleted Instagram post dressed as an aged groom.

"New deal. This is all you're getting. Hope it is less triggering and more what you consider age appropriate," the Underworld actress wrote in a caption.

Beckinsale sparked concerns among fans on March 11, 2024, when she shared a series of photos on Instagram, including a tearful selfie on a hospital bed. The English actress did not reveal any information about her hospital visit then. However, in a now-deleted Instagram post on April 17, 2024, Kate Beckinsale hinted at stomach disease as she wore a T-shirt that read "Tummy Troubles Survivor."

Kate Beckinsale has yet to address her health condition officially.
